TIRES - SIDEWALL
07/21/2005106/01/2000
Dt: contact noticed a bubble on the side wall of the left rear tire. took the tire off, and called the manufacturer to get the warranty service. they sent him to the local service dealer. when the dealer took the tire off the sidewall separated away from the tire. contacted the manufacturer again, and they put the contact in touch with the safety technician. contact felt the cost of the replacement tire increased because he contacted the manufacturer. the service dealer performed a visual inspection and concluded it was a defective tire. *ak

I have had bulges and cracks on sidewall of most tires i have had on this truck, original or rep[lacement ones. usually a oil change guy will show me the problem, as usually on inside drivers rear. note i pull 5th wheel rv's occasionally and did not choose to complain until now. my complaint is on july 2, 2000 on a deseret highway about 11 am i had tread separation on drivers reat tire. i did not save any info from any of these tires that i had replaced, but i had a ca highway patrol officer hear the blow out and see me pull over to side of road. he called his dispatch who sent a tow truck to change tires. i saved the separated tread but disposed of it upon getting a replacement tire. but they looked just like the tv phoytos of the recalled firestone tires. the tow truck cost me $165.00 cash to drive to desert and put on my spare. incidental damages were the tire bashing the side of my pick up bed and bending the rod that keeps bed from rattling which is in vicinity of fender well. this rod was bent upwards and pulled fender inwards .( dot number: tire size: lt235/85r1 )
