This truck has many problems. strarting with the transmission going out, the front right side of the truck there is a distinctive clunk when put into gear; either forward or reverse. then going interior; the door ajar light comes on it thinks that the doors are not shut, but you can slam all 4 doors shut and it still thinks the doors are ajar so that will keep the interior light on while driving. the interior light will go out if you get up to about 20 mph, then when you slow down to under 20mph it will come back on. the warning bell comes on and stays on even when the truck is shut off. next the seat belts will some times work and some times not. either the are hard to pull out or they will not retract. the tailgate cover has warped in not even 1 year after we had it.

Stopped at a traffic light and when light turned green, pressed gas pedal but truck would not move. waited a few minutes and pressed pedal and truck went. driving down highway, truck started coasting - engine was running but pressing the gas pedal gave no power. finally got the truck to ford service. left the truck running and in park - the truck jumped into reverse. the truck lost power again while the ford tech was test driving. they replaced the electronic gas pedal and the transmission. they took the truck on a test drive and noticed the rear end was grinding. they determined the carrier bearings had come apart. they have ordered a new rear end. the windshield washer fluid would not spray - they repaired some wiring to correct that problem. ea04006 has ifs

The vehicle came out of gear (park), it proceeded to roll backwards down the hill. the drivers side door was open and caught on a tree which was near the vehicle. it also knocked down and injured a 4 year old as it was rolling down the hill. the vehicle was slowed down by the tree, which barely gave the driver enough time to climb into the vehicle and bring it to a complete stop before it went backwards into a revine. it has not yet been determined why this incident occurred.

Ford f 250 safety issue, constantly have to make certain the truck doesn't lurch forward on release. *bf the consumer is having problems with the clutch on the six speed manual and the emergency brake. the clutch releases only 1 to 1 1/2 inches off the floor. the consumer was told that the original had a rubber hose part that allowed expansion when the hydraulic clutch fluid was compressed. the vehicle was found that the problem with the clutch fork was bending. the consumer stated that it is difficult to shift gears causing a pause that could result in someone else rear ending him. the vehicle emergency brake was replaced due to recall notice however the consumer still has to leave it in gear on even theslightest grade because the emergency brake does not hold the truck in place. ford motor company agreed to replace the parking brake front cable and the pedal control assembly. *tc the a/c blew hot air. *sc

Consumer states that the bushings in clutch kept breaking off. when this happened the clutch pedal went all the way to the floor, and consumer could not stop the vehicle. the piece that broke off was made of plastic, and did not do the job. this happened 3 times. the first time at 80,000 miles. currently, it happened again and there was no recall on it. *ak

Clutch slave cylinder failed without warning. the clutch pedal went about 1/2 way before engaging. difficult to engage clutch and shift transmission. i was towing a trailer at the time of failure. when i contacted the ford dealer to schedule repair he said not to drive the vehicle very far because complete failure would probably occur. i was also told that ford is very aware of this defect and has redesigned this part due to many failures. even though an accident did not occur, i think a safety recall is needed since these vehicles are designed to haul or carry heavy loads and this type of failure could make it difficult to engage the clutch when trying to stop the vehicle, which could result in a catastrophic accident. the cost for repair was $305.26

Consumer states that he is having trouble with a part that attaches to the clutch release pedal, when it comes off it is impossible to release the clutch or to shift gears, the part is made of a plastic type material with teeth to keep it in place, however consumer has replaced this part several times. *slc

When i put my truck into gear and initially start out there was knocking and clunking coming from under the right (passenger side) floor boards. clunking seemed similar to bad u-joints when torque is put on them. clunking could be felt on floor. i had in to dealer numerous times before they were able to feel and hear clunking. the knocking and clunking is more prevelant in warm weather. now i am told by dealer ( place motor, 19 thompson road-route 193,webster, ma,01570, ph.#5089438010) that this is under investigation by ford motor co. i asked what my options were because i don't like driving a new vehicle around with the clunking and nothing being done. at this point there was nothing they could do and that these problems happen and it takes time to find them. i wasn't happy with the wait until it falls off attitude i got, not necessarily from the dealer but from ford. this is the second new vehicle we have purchased from ford that has had the under investigation label put on it. i had a 1997 ford expedition that, on cold start ups, had a two to three minute engine rapping noise that was also under investigation. it sounded as if no oil was getting in the engine for the longest time. this problem turned us off from buying out our vehicle from its lease program. 2 for 2 does not make me very keen on ford quality or its customer satisfaction, especially on $30,000. to $40,000. vehicles *ak.
