When towing trailer and or when carrying weight in the rear of the box, upon hitting a large bump or a smaller roller type bump the truck swerves left and right and the steering seems to pull somewhat. the servicing local deler said there is technical service bulletin on this problem but not for the f-250, only for the f-350 and up . they said they can not order the parts to fix mine because ford has not given approval for this. the technical service bulletin from ford concerning this problem , i believe is tsb99-8-2. *ak

Severe vibration at any speed seemingly from front drive train (bearings, axels, hubs)? the only way i can drive the truck is to engage the front left axel.otis ford has been trying to find the problem for two and a half months replacing parts that didn't solve the problem. i am waiting now for three weeks for parts they have ordered to try to fix this problem.

I have taken my truck in to the dealer three times to get them to fix the problem. they thought they had it fixed the first time. the other times i was told that ford was aware of the problem, but didn't know how to fix it yet! a popping noise comes from the rear of my 4x4 crewcab every time that i go over a bump at slow speeds. *ak

6 alignments in 24,000 miles, a broken 14mm suspension bolt, a steering gearbox failure, 3 sets of brakes & rotor/caliper replacement indicates major design/material & quality problems. the vehicle has also left me stranded 5 times for other not listed engine related failures. ford customer relations is useless, could care less & is non-supportive. *ak

99 ford 250 super duty cannot adjust camber/caster without changing the bushings. the alignment computer shows value is not within specification. tire wear, handling and safety problems may result. ford will not take care of this under warranty. this is not adjustable unless a kit is added at my expense. ford claims it is a wear item and is not covered. if this piece wears out in 14,157 miles, ford has a safety problem according to the computer. the truck has pulled to the right since it was new. evidently they are aware of this problem. since kits are available to correct the problem ( if caught within 12,500). they are shipped with non-adjustable kits, that are locked in and cannot be adjusted. *ak

SUSPENSION - FRONT - CONTROL ARM

The right and left ball joints began freezing last summer. the vehicle began to wander and it became increasingly difficult to keep it in my lane of traffic. the problem came on slowly but was first noted by me last summer. this summer it got to the point that it was unsafe to drive because attempting to get the wheels to move slightly resulted in too much movement leading to constant attempts to correct the over-correction. the dealer readily diagnosed the problem as frozen ball joints and required that i pay for the repairs despite the fact that the problem began well before the warranty expired. a dealership employee informed me that they were replacing many of these parts under warranty due to premature failure. the original part did not have any provision to lubricate the joint. the replacement part has a fitting to lubricate it. obviously ford made a design change in this part and are not telling owners about the problem. at nearly $1000.00 to repair it, some owners may choose to delay or forgo replacement and continue to drive the truck when it is unsafe to do so. as a rule, ball joints should be expected to go double the mileage at which mine required replacement. my calls to ford resulted in no admission of fault on their part. the steering on the truck was so bad that neither my wife or i felt that it was safe to drive at highway speeds.*ak

Stopped at a traffic light and when light turned green, pressed gas pedal but truck would not move. waited a few minutes and pressed pedal and truck went. driving down highway, truck started coasting - engine was running but pressing the gas pedal gave no power. finally got the truck to ford service. left the truck running and in park - the truck jumped into reverse. the truck lost power again while the ford tech was test driving. they replaced the electronic gas pedal and the transmission. they took the truck on a test drive and noticed the rear end was grinding. they determined the carrier bearings had come apart. they have ordered a new rear end. the windshield washer fluid would not spray - they repaired some wiring to correct that problem. ea04006 has ifs
