VISIBILITY - DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER SYSTEM

When using the defroster, the unit isn't working, causing the windshield to be covered with 2/3 frost. dealer can't determine the cause. *ak

Right side mirror is made of flat glass instead of curved glass. the field of view on the right side is so limited that i believe it could cause a crash when merging or changing lanes. every other vehicle i have driven in recent years had a curved glass, wide angle mirror on the right side.
Bottom half of both, inside and outside rearview mirrors do not adjust. it makes it impossible to see the vehicle next to consumer's vehicle. dealer says they can do nothing.*ak

Wide angle mirror on trailer toe does not provide sufficient view from rear of driver's seat. *ak

No matter how consumer adjusts the mirrors there is still a blind spot. *ak
07/01/1998
Unable to use vehicle for intended purpose of pulling a travel trailer. don't feel safe pulling a trailer when wide angle mirrors are non-adjustable. it's ridiculous to have non-adjustable mirrors on a vehicle! dealer informs it's a design item; not warranty.

Defective blind spot mirror, on the larger extended truck mirror

Mfg. knows the mirrors are unsafe, makes safe passing or lane impossible. *ak

The left and right convex mirrors that are standard on this truck are not adjustable. the left mirror looks at the left rear tire. the right mirror is a bit better. it is difficult, if not impossible to use these mirrors safely when passing, or being passed when i am towing my 5th wheel travel trailer.

The towing mirror poses a safety hazard. cannot see back of trailer. mirrors are in fixed (stationary) position. *ak

My ford f250 is equipped with a towing package to tow a fifth wheel trailer. the towing mirror is my complaint. there is a large mirror on top and a smaller parabolic mirror on the bottom of the mirror frame. the upper mirror is adjustable, but the parabolic mirror is not adjustable and you cannot see anything out of it except for the rear tires of the pickup and the ground. if i were about 5 feet tall it would work great, but i am 6'1'' and cannot see anything out of it that will help me see the trailer or the traffic behind me. i have contacted my dealer, the ford dealers in tucson, az and the ford motor company and have gotten no satisfactory answer. the mirror needs to be adjustable for persons of different heights. is there anything i can do at this time to remedy this situation.

Reflective coating is coming off the outsid mirror, can not see out them.
06/28/2001107/01/1998
Consumer has noticed that exterior mirrors that are used for towing of vehicle are not adjusted correctly. mirrors are suppose to show rear tires to curve, not just rear of tires. it very hard to maneuver vehicle under certain circumstances.*ak ford states if consumer wants to replace the defective mirrors, he has to pay for them. *slc

Right hand exterior mirror has a regular mirror. it does not have a wide angle mirror on it. it limits vision when checking traffic, backing up or even changing lanes. the depth perception is not what it should be.*ak
Rearview exterior mirrors extend out too far, allowing other vehicles and pedestrians to come in contact when vehicle is passing. dealer has seen vehicle, and can replace the mirrors. *ak

When driver was reversing he could not see clearly the back or trail of the vehicle. on the right side mirror it was hard to focus. *ak
08/03/1999
Side mirrors used for towing, extend too far out when vehicle not towing. can not pull mirrors in or shift to different position in order for mirrors not be hit. another vehicle had hit side mirrors. they had shattered glass onto driver's side in the process. *ak

Rear view mirror design extends too long, resulting in oncoming truck to hit the mirror on the driver's side shattering the mirror and cracking the housing.
07/17/1998
Mirrors are designed in a fixed position, can't be adjusted. qcaw
