Dt: the contact stated that windshield wiper motor malfunctioned not long after he purchased the vehicle. he later found nhtsa recall 01v258000 concerning windshield wiper/ washer motor. after contacting the manufacturer, he was told that the recall work had already been completed on this vehicle by the previous owner. he stated that the windshield wiper washer motor gear case cover began to burn, almost causing his entire truck to catch on fire if he had not seen it in time. afterwards, he contacted the manufacturer again and told him what had happened. they were unwilling to help with the repairs because it was already covered under the recall. he felt that if the recall had been repaired correctly then why was this problem happening again with the wiper motor gear cover. *ak

I was driving my 2000 f-250 7.8 diese at approx. 5 mph. it was snowing outside. i had my wipers on. the wipers became stuck and then my truck began to fill with smoke. i attempted to turn the wipers offs. the wipers would not shut off. i turned the truck and then restarted it. the wipers stopped for a minute then continued to faster. i also saw flames coming from the hood area. my wipers no longer function and i there is strong odor of burnt electrical wiring in the truck. i called ford about this problem and they said my truck was not part of the recall and they were not responsible.*ak
