When pulling away from stop at a red light, truck hesitated, then engine just died. waited a moment, then restarted engine and it did the same thing. restarted the engine again and was able to return home. next day i purchased a new crank position sensor and have yet to experience a similar problem.

I own a 2002 f250, 4x4, four door, off-road package, camper package, tow package, v-10, automatic tranny. when i first start the vehicle and place it in reverse, after about three seconds, i hear a loud thump. noise comes from a little right of center and in front of the dash. dealer cannot duplicate. problem happens about once every thirty starts. this started happening within a month of buying the vehicle new. *jb

I have a 2002 f250 super duty. when i come to a full stop, and then take off there is a feeling that something is slack in the drive train somewhere. you can feel a double bump kinda of feeling. when towing a trailer it is worse. the ford dealer said some trucks do this and some do not, but they can not find the problem, which i believe they think it is a normal function. *jb

2002 ford f-250 crew cab - transmission temperature gauge always registers hot, even if the truck has been sitting over night. ford service bulletins says this is normal. if this is normal, what is the purpose of the gauge on the dash? how can i tell if my transmission is over heating when hauling a heavy load? the gauge is not reliable. ford tells me the gauge will register if the transmission begins to over heat. well it's registering even when the transmission is cold from sitting over night! how can i rely on this??? ford tells me they will not replace the transmission if it is damaged from overheating. well, i have no reliable way of telling if it is overheating. why put a gauge on the dash only for show? why should i pay extra for something that serves absolutely no purpose if ford said it was normal.*jb

High pressure oil pump o-ring failure. (1) o-ring failed at 08/30/04 with 30,000 miles. dealer repaired with updated o-ring kit as specified by ford bulletin. covered under warranty (2)o-ring failed again at 08/16/07 with 70,826 miles. ford dealer repaired with updated 0-ring kit as specified by ford bulletin. this time i had to pay $100.00 deductible. (3)o-ring failed again on 06/11/08 with 83,000 miles. repaired again in 10 month since last repair. i had to pay the full price of repair of 561.82. same part has failed three times on my 2002 f250 crewcab 4 door 7.3 diesel. when o-ring fails the oil is leaking while engine is running. this is not a slow leak but a steady stream as the line is under high pressure. i had to shut down the engine while driving because of low oil pressure and you have no control of brakes or the power steering on vehicle. *tr

Ford f-250 4 wheel drive. 4 wheel drive system is faulty. seals on system go bad and cause lack of pressure to turn hubs to 4 wheel drive mode. very expensive to fix. complaints from many people i know including ford mechanics stating the system is of very poor design. *jb
