Truck cuts out losing power intermittently with no rhyme or reason. it seems electrical since both the glow plug light as well as the water in fuel light come on for about 2 seconds and go off. once they go off, it will run again until the next occurrence. i have had the complete ficm harness (it ran fine for two weeks after the replacement) replaced by the dealer.iit has been in the shop four times now for a total of 10 days for this problem and it only has 7000 miles. *ak

Dt: consumer had has recall work done on 2004 ford f250 super duty. the first recall was in april on the turbo bracket. dealership put the bracket on the turbo charger on the top of the engine. dealership did not tighten the hose back, and all the oil leaked out. the second recall was on the rear planetary that was mandatory recall. the dealer tried to fix this, but the owner was not satisfied with the repair work. he said that the vehicle vibrated to badly. the next recall was the fuel control module, the dealer repaired the vehicle, and currently the truck was dying in the middle of the road after it warmed up. consumer talked to the dealership where he originally bought the truck, and they could not work on the truck because consumer had work done somewhere else. consumer talked to a regional manager, who said that the truck was operating normally. the truck could sit for a few minutes and will start back up.. consumer could not have anyone else work on the truck, or ford will void the warranty for one hundred thousand miles on the engine and components and 36,000 miles on the drive train. consumer wanted to file a complaint. the information about the recall was with the consumers lawyer. the consumer does have pending lawsuit against ford. *ak

We purchased the most beautiful, 2004 f-250 powerstroke diesel on 4/3/04, lariat pkg,tow/camper pkg from a ford dealership in kennesaw, ga. it did well for a few weeks, but odd things began to happen, rough shifting of the transmission/decrease in gas mileage/riding roughly. on 6/8, before a trip to florida, my husband took the vehicle for service and to have the other problems checked. the dealership's service dept said they could't find the problem but did mention that the transmission was slipping. we left for vacation the very early on 6/18. on 6/25, in fl, the transmission broke down. could only get it in one gear, the tow/hauling light came on and stayed on. a dealership there in palm beach, diagnosed-we needed a new transmission. metal shavings were found in the transmission when it was taken apart. (we also found out that the dealership did not disclose to us the fact that the transmission had already been replaced once, at 17 miles. it had 79 miles on it when we purchased it). a new transmission was ordered and we were stranded another week before it would arrive. on 6/30, my husband picked up the truck but it still wasn't operating properly. about 8pm he called to say the transmission had broken again. back to the fl dealership the next morning, led to another diagnosis of the computer/processor being bad. that was replaced and the truck has worked somewhat properly since that time. it still has some odd sounds coming from the transmission, the gas mileage has dropped as low as 8.9 (originally -17 mpg - pulling a camper.) it still idles roughly so we expect to break again. this truck is on its third transmission & 2nd processor. we are still trying to resolve the issue with the dealership, ford motor co., and automotive grp 1. my sincere thanks to al packard ford service dept in palm beach co, fl for their help in diagnosing the problem and for helping these stranded visitors. *ak

I own a 2004 ford f250 diesel crew cab 4x4. we have the lariet package along with the camper and off road packages. current miles are 3600. ehaven't towed anything behind this new truck yet. on sunday aug. 1,2004, my wife was driving and noticed that the transmission would not shift into overdrive.the tow/haul light on the dash was flashing. i took the truck to mike davidson ford the next morning aug. 2,2004. they dropped the pan off the transmission and found metal shavings along with a bad sensor. the truck is still in the shop. i wanted to know if other new ford trucks equiped the same way were having simular problems. the dealership said this was a rare condition for this type vehicle. *ak
POWER TRAIN - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - TORQUE CONVERTER
04/19/20052321205/29/2004
We purchased a 2004 f250 turbo diesel from mike brown ford on may 29, 2004 and the nightmare began. the first problem the dealership wired the keyless entry incorrectly and had to replace the wiring harness. after that the truck began to have problems with surging, and dying in the middle of the road.. the truck has been in the shop numerous times, they have replaced the computer 9 times, exchanged the egr values twice, they have slipped the torque converter, and all types of reprogrammed on the various components on this vehicle.. to date the truck runs extremely bad. my wife drives this vehicle, and is extremely scared of this truck, do to the fact that it surges and loses vacuum and shoves her into intersections at red lights or any other times she applies the brakes. the various ford dealerships are no help they constantly reprogram and release the vehicle . no more or less than 5000 miles the vehicle starts it again. we believe that this vehicle is defective and extremely dangerous to drive, seeing how you never no when it will die, or surge . we feel that this vehicle is a danger to anyone who comes in contact with .*ak

POWER TRAIN - CLUTCH ASSEMBLY - PEDAL/LINKAGE
11/19/2009860001
While driving on a 2 lane country road, i went to shift (change gears) my truck, and the clutch pedal fell off. i was able to get it into neutral, and coasted to a stop on the shoulder of the road. upon investigating the cause, i found the pivot pin that the clutch pedal rotates on was missing the retainer and bushing from the right side of the pin, so the pin had moved to the left until the pedal became unattached. after removing the fuse panel from the dash board, and using a hammer handle to reach in and leverage the pedal pin back in place, i was able to drive home. i am an automotive supplier engineer, and do most of my own mechanical repairs on my own vehicles. i have not yet tried to purchase the replacement parts from a ford dealer, but the auto parts store does not have them. my truck is a 2004 ford f250 super duty 4x4, 4 dr, diesel. *tr
