Vehicle being towed behind motorhome on i-29 north of st.joseph,mo. heard noise and saw smoke and motorhome began drifting to right. after stopping to investigate found left front tire blown off wheel, brake line severed, running board missing and considerable damage to left door and fender. put on spare then proceeded to palmyra, ne. for the evening. just after crossing in to wyoming the next day another loud report and the left rear tire blew out. same type of tire and same mileage as the front, only the belt had wrapped around the axle and locked up the wheel. i have this tire, what is left of it anyway. conditions on both occurances: clear weather, temps in the mid to high 80 s, speed was 65 mph, traffic moderate. tires were checked and inflated to 50 psi prior to departing bartlett, tn. tread was about 50% on all four tires of the matched set. if vehicle had been driven instead of being towed, this could have been dangerous to occupents and other motorists in both incidents .*ak
