 Consumer has had multiple scares of accidents pertaining to antilock brakes. in november of 2000 consumer tried to apply brakes, and almost hit another vehicle. no brakes when applied. drums/pads & shoes have been changed, but no real remedy. consumers mechanic took a look, and back brakes released. there was no control over vehicle. ford wasn't assisting at all with problem. they feel that consumer was doing something for brakes to wear.*ak

 Brake fade. when at a complete stop, pedal will sink slowly but not enough to active a warning light. if pedal is not pressed harder vehicle will roll. dealership says this is not the first vehicle to do this and has contacted the manufacturer. vehicle still does it to this day. master cylinder has been replaced twice, still not fixed.*ak

 When driving at any speed and apply the brakes, brakes drag. when going down a hill, and consumer takes foot off of the brakes, vehicle will stop. *ak

 Abs brakes lock up the rear tires at 5mph. vehicle pulls to the right and has a bad shutter when brakes are applied.

 When driving along at a speed of 55 the vehicle started to make a noise and then there was a vibration, the abs brakes just don't seem to work. *ak brakes chatter and have a front end rumble, consumer feels abs is not synchronized to grab both brakes at the same time, brake cable continues to rub on the left rear shock, dealer stated asbestos lining is not used anymore due to environmental hazards, causing rotors to glaze. front bumper can not withstand a 2.5 collision. driver's seat lumbar support does not hold air pressure, passenger seat squeaks after being serviced three times. poor gas mileage and high idle, consumer states while filling fuel tank, the nozzle would click off several times before tank was full. windshiled wipers would skip and chatter while in use. *slc

 Brakes would randomly not operate properly. would fail to stop vehicle when applied. brake pedal would drop,but not to floor. would go through stop lights and intersections. took vehicle to dealer , it was test driven. mechanic replaced master cylinder. but, problem still exists. *ak

 While pulling a trailer loaded with fire wood, the brakes failed at an intersection. the brake pedal went nearly to the floor. the brakes would not slow me down. the emergency brake was not stong enough to stop me while loaded. had to down shift to stop. the brake line going to the rear axle had a hole in it. the hole was located at one on clamps to the frame. *ak

 The brakes failed while pulling a 12,000 pound fifth wheel camper. this happened while driving downhill. the pedal went to the floorboard and the truck would not stop. driver used the emergency parking brake to stop the truck. this was due to a frozen brake cable. the problem was corrected at owner's cost. there is a service bulletin on this issue. the truck was serviced for brakes in march of 1998, for the same problem. *ak
