Defect SummaryOn certain trucks equipped with speed control, gasoline or natural gas engines, the speed control deactivation switch may overheat.
Consequence SummaryOverheating could result in smoke or burn and an underhood fire.
Corrective SummaryDealers will install a fused wiring harness into the speed control system free of charge. the recall began on august 7, 2006. owners may contact ford at 1-866-436-7332. (note: also see recalls 05v017 and 05v388)

 In the past 5 years i have replaced the torque converter and throttle position sensor 3 or more times. each time the dealer tells me it's just a faulty part. i feel that ford is refusing to except the fact that i have a defective transmission. i plan to confront the dealer one more time before contacting an attorney.

 Vehicle's air by-pass valve in the intake sticks, causing rapid acceleration. this occurs in cold weather conditions. this is the 2nd by-pass valve replaced due to this condition on 7.5 engine. *ak
