Fuel filter failure resulted in high pressure fuel leak that flooded the engine compartment with diesel fuel. approximately 10 to 12 gallons pumped from tank at high pressure, and sprayed all over engine and engine compartment. problem was not noticed after picking vehicle up from routine service. noticed pungent odor which intensified as i was driving home. dealer stated they did not service fuel filter. when vehicle was picked to be returned to the dealer, diesel fuel came spilling off the top of the engine. diesel fuel has penetrated the ventilation system and got all over front suspension parts removing paint from these parts. failure of fuel filter and resultant leak could have resulted in a fire, thank god it did not happen (note- fuel leak was occuring while i was driving home). will be happy to discuss this issue via telephone to give more details. *ak
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM

Engine died while traveling with wife and small children in truck on freeway. following engine failure, brakes and steering became very difficult to manage while coasting off of freeway onto exit. two of these instances occurred while driving on freeway within 2 months of each other. engine began sputtering and then died completely within 10 seconds. the truck had to be towed to shamrock ford in dublin after each incident and no replacement vehicle was offered. after being fixed the 1st time there was a noticable lack of power and fuel consumption increased, leading to the second failure. i am very frustrated that the 40,000 dollar dream truck i purchased is a pile of unreliable junk. i bought a 5th wheel trailer to use with this truck and it is so unreliable that i am afraid to tow it anywhere. i will not allow my wife, who weighs 110 lbs, to take the kids anywhere for fear that she would not be able to control the vehicle if this occurred again. do i have any recourse? thank you, tony zwetsloot *ak

The left rear wheel separated from the vehicle, which caused the vehicle jerk foward. *jb the consumer requested an 03 vehicle or reimbursement for the incidental expenses. after the purchase of the vehicle, the manual, lockable hub(s) began to fail. the dealer convinced the consumer(s) to purchase 8 ply tires, but this didn't reduce the noise or hub problems, the consumer also experienced acceleration problem's. the dealer couldn't find the problem. the engine idled rough and the engine light had come on. a bad cam sensor was found, and a sound had come from the fuel pump. an adapter to the metal plate was built in, extending from the underdash, to the firewall, to provide a better ground system. scc

Consumer states he has put 6 fuel pump on his truck since 1999. he also states that the first pump lasted approx 40,000 mile, the 2nd on e lasted up to 60,000 miles, and the rest of them he cannot remember. he states that the last pump was put on nov 19 or 20th and lasted only 10 days. he stated too, that when the pumps goes out his truck stops and if he is on the mountain or on a hill, he cannot break or stop the truck because of the weight that he carries. he carries steel and it is heavy. he states that this is scarry, and nobody seem to be able to help him.
