Auto part put on order but seems ford motor company knows problem existed with many other transmissions yet it seems tech's at auto dealers are some how not aware of problem in tech orders that should be issued. the part is hard to get as it's on back orders. the part number is(cluster gears for speedometers that go into transmissions)xc3z*10849*ya instrument cluster with 7543 agc-20amp glass fuse.the dealers are charging customers a total of $610.18 for the repair. when this part fails the speedometer stops operating v10transmissions *tr

The batteries on my 1999 f350 crew cab dually with a 7.3 diesel went dead. when i tried to charge the batteries the charger showed an extremely high draw. i heard a solenoid clicking under the drivers side battery and the radio would turn on and off. i also noticed that my heater control would work even with the key off. after taking to the local ford dealer i was told that the windshield was leaking and water had damaged the gem module and the fuse block. repair cost to replace the gem module, fuse block and seal the leaking area was $1063.01. when checking the internet to see what the gem module controlled i find that the water leak is a know problem due to a skip or void in the production sealer. according to the forums i have read there are many many trucks with this same problem. from what i found there are two tsb's issued for the water leak. they are tsb 99-2-3 and 04-23-9. from comments on the internet several trucks have caught fire and burned up. ford apparently doesn't think this is a problem and has not taken action to correct the problem nor will they assist in the repair. *tr

1999 ford f-350. parked in driveway. fire in the engine compartment. source appears to be just behind the air filter box in the area of the master cylinder. most of the electrical harness destroyed. driver side battery melted down. denver fire had to respond to put out the fire. i was never notified of a recall and this vehicle has been serviced at least twice by the local ford dealership. *jb

I havea 1999.5 ford f-350 diesel crewcab dualley truck. on 05/15/2007 while driving on the freeway noticed a loss of power. i got off freeway, and truck was idling erracticly and roughly with loss of power. the next day truck started up like normal. i test drove the truck, and same symtoms occurred. this time the check engine light came on. i changed the cam positioner sensor (cps), and reset the computer. i test drove the truck with no problems i had before.*ak

I was driving and my truck stalled before getting to a complete stop. i was about to reach bumper to bumper traffic. luckily there was grass on the right hand side and i pulled in there to avoid hitting a car. had to go over the sidewalk. after turning off, i tried to start with no luck. after 10 minutes i tried again and it started. a little down the road same thing happened, it stalled. happened like 2 more times until i got to work. called my mechanic and he stated that the cps usually goes out and he bought one for me. installed it and it worked. just waiting for the next time it happens as i have read these things give out all the time. *jb

April 2nd of 2004 driving at 30 mph and coasting to a stop sign the number 3 spark plug blew out of the right side cylinder head of my 1999 ford f-350 with a v-10 engine in it. ford in kingman,az. installed a reconditioned cylinder head that had a spark plug blow out of it and a steel insert was the fix for that cylinder head. i was given a reconditioned head with the insert in it and told by the ford mechanic in kingman,az. that it is just a matter of time before it blows another spark plug out or sucks the steel insert into the engine. i sinserly hope i'm not 100 miles from anywhere when this happens again. i also hope it's not going to happen on the way to the hospital trying to help someone. this is a vast problem and can easily be researched on the internet by simply typing in ford v-10 ,spark plug. ford knows this is a casting problem with the aluminum heads having only 3 thread count in each cylinder hole holding each spark plug in. *ak
