Defect Summary | Certain federal-mogul replacement wheel hub assemblies with the brand names: national, carquest p/nos. 515020, 515021, 515025, 515053, 515054, 515059, and 515060, shipped between january 23, 2006, and december 20, 2007, sold for light duty and medium duty trucks. the inboard retention nut used to maintain hub bearing assembly can loosen resulting in an abs light indication, noise, and/or wheel separation. | |||||||||||||||

Dt*: the contact stated there is not enough clearance on the hub pilot rear wheels to be able to remove the wheels. in 2004 an independent repair shop used a cutting torch to remove the wheels in pieces. at that time the repair shop applied two new rear wheels and remounted the tires. now the same thing is happening with the replacement wheels. additionally the horn blows on its own. an independent mechanic replaced the horn relay. shortly after the replacement the horn sounded again on its own. this is more likely to happen in damp/ humid weather conditions. the dealership was made aware of the problems. | |||

Local goodyear representative says this has happened a lot - lug nuts recently tightened by fire department personnel. i am not the owner but am the fire chief. vehicle belongs to the town of dundee. the lug holes in the rims are widened. a number of the bolts are stripped and broken. this could be a serious safety problem. the vehicle is absolutely not overloaded.*ak |
