Defect SummaryCertain cequent 90 degree 7-way right angle adaptors sold by distributors in tow packages for aftermarket sales to tow 5th wheel rv travel trailers. due to incorrect wiring of the harness, the trailer lights may not operate properly.
Consequence SummaryIf the trailer lights are not working properly, a vehicle crash can occur.
Corrective SummaryAll of the defective tow packages are still at the distributor level and have not been sold to any consumers.

Defect SummaryFord is recalling certain model year 2011 ranger trucks built from january 25, 2011, through april 25, 2011 at the twin cities assembly plant, and service parts distributed to dealers for certain 2004 through 2011 model year ranger trucks, 2002 through 2005 model year excursion vehicles, and 2002 through 2007 model year f-250, f-350, f-450, and f-550 trucks for failing to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment. the multi-function switch was shipped with a subcomponent (slider) that may experience deformation. a multi-function switch with a deformed slider may malfunction causing the turn signal, tail lights, hazard warning signal flashers and/or brake lights not to activate.
Consequence SummaryNon-functioning lights could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the switches free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin on or about august 15, 2011. owners may contact ford motor company customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332.

 Tl-the contact owns a 2005 ford f-550. the contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph the engine stalled and eventually died. no warning lights appeared on the instrumental panel prior to the failure. this has occured on a intermittent basis. the vehicle was towed to a dealer who informed the contact that she needed to replace the fuel injector control module and the regulator. the fuel injector control module and regulator were repaired. the failure has continued to occur after the repairs. the failure mileage was approximately 123,981. tb

 Tl-the contact owns a 2005 ford f-550 super duty. while having the vehicle serviced at an authorized dealer for engine failures the contact was told the fuel tank was rusting from the inside to the outside. the contact was also told the rusting of the fuel tank was causing the engine failures. the vehicle was experiencing troubles starting as well as a loss of power while driving. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 77,000. sm.

 Tl-the contact owns a 2005 ford f-650 super duty (n/a). while driving approximately 70 mph the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the fuel tank was replaced. the failure has recurred approximately 5 times. after each failure the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop where it was repaired. the failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 150,000. sm.

 Truck will have a sudden loss of power when driving on the highway and finally stalls out. it puts the driver and the occupants in a dangerous situation. we do manage to get the truck into the shoulder and attempt to start the truck up. after 10 minutes the truck will start up and drive ok. the truck will continue to do this intermittently putting the occupants at risk. the fuel filter is replaced but continuation of the same problem. the fuel pump is next to be replaced, then the lifter pump with still no results. they finally check the fuel tank and find rust and some sort of brown slime in the tank and replace the tank along with a new fuel filter which solved the problem. *tr

 Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford f550 sd. the contact stated because the lining in the fuel tank has become lamented, it clogs the fuel filter. as a consequence fuel not only leaks, but the engine intermittently stalls. he contacted the dealer, and was advised by a technician that he would have to pay $900.00 to replace the fuel tank. no repairs were made. the failure and current mileages were 74,000.

 On 2005 ford f-550, the rear axle seal in passenger side leaks. brakes are coated with gear oil when his occurs. ford tsb # 05124 has been done but does not work. my vehicle has had four repairs ( 3 seal replacements and 1 attempt as per tsb ) and all have failed. truck has @ 24,000 miles on it. *tr

 Tl*the contact owns a 2005 ford f550. while driving at any speed, the clutch locks to the bottom of the floor when it is engaged. the failure prevents the contact from switching gears and the vehicle continues to accelerate. in order to stop the vehicle from accelerating, he must manually force the vehicle to switch gears. the vehicle had to be towed to the dealer. the vehicle has been diagnosed by the dealer several times, but the failure still persists. the current mileage was 50,084 and failure mileage was 15,000.
