| When driving the car and slowing down the cvt transmission surges ahead and the car goes into safe mode only allowing it to go 20 mph when driving in traffic. many near misses on accidents. have had car into dealer 3 times and still unable to diagnose problem. maintenance service was completed on transmission at 60,000 miles per recommendations. ford motor company stated in a phone conversation there are known transmission problems with this car. dealer states it is the computer causing this unsure who is right. a transmsision sensor is being replaced to the tune of $2000. please help if this is a known problem. just had a part in the transmission replaced because there was a recall on it. | |||

| Upon starting the vehicle this morning (first sub-freezing day here and first time the car had not been garaged), the driver door did not latch. repeated attempts to secure the door both from inside and outside the vehicle failed. i held the door closed for a 10-minute drive and partially through the trip it partially latched and by the time i arrived at my destination the door latched and locked. this is similar to an existing recall for 2005 ford five hundreds (id #06v383000) but in speaking with ford owner services i am told the recall has not extended to 2006 model year five hundreds. i believe it is a situation to be investigated as a safety hazard. | |||

| The airbag warning light comes on and then the entire gauge cluster (i am talking about the speedometer, the temperature gauge, the gas gauge, and the tachometer) shuts off completely and comes back on randomly. ten days after initial incident the airbag warning light came on and then the gauge cluster shut off completely and stayed off. the speedometer is the most important part. i have seen several articles online about the same topic, and the belief is that it is due to faulty soldering on the back of the unit. | |||

| In multiple incidents, on hot summer days, the car has suddenly accelerated (with no foot on the accelerator) when backing out of parking spaces and sometimes when put into drive right after the sudden acceleration in reverse. it has required rapid, firm braking to prevent the car from hitting other vehicles. about a week after the problem started with this car, it started to happen occasionally with my other ford five hundred (a 2005 model with a little less mileage). a separate complaint has been filed on that vehicle. research online has revealed that hundreds of ford five hundred owners have reported this issue and that the throttle body is the likely culprit. | |||

| My car has done this for a while however has continued to get worse. it will jerk when it changes gears. it is so bad at times it feels like something is going to fall out. along with the jerk it will completely go out of gear and the accelerator only rams it up. i have been passing cars on the enterstate and it go out of gear, i have been on side roads and it go out of gear and all i can do when that happens is role until i can get the car pulled over. eventually the car will jerk and it will go back into gear. i have not had a wreck but have come very close just because people behind me and the car stalling all of a sudden. god has just been with us each time this has happened. i know other people have this same problem with this car. it is very expensive to get fixed and mine is parked as we speak because i cant afford the part nor the labor. the ford dealer says it is the valve body. if i drive it much more it will cost double to get the transmission itself fixed. i am very upset due to the fact that i do really love this car. it seems that everyone who has this vehicle is having the same problem. there is a forum that is on the web that people have shared their experiences and we all are alike. it is a shame that we would have to wait until so many wrecks before a recall on the transmission is made. do we have to wait until someone is killed or hurt really bad to prove that this is a true problem. if this many people have the same transmission troubles can they not see something is wrong. they didn't make this car for very long. i don't know if it is because of that and ford doesn't want to fix something that was only made for 3 years. my request is sincere and i just hope that ford will see that yes it is a great car that they made, however it is very dangerous and waiting for someone to sue before fixing it after everyone telling them about, it is not good. | |||

| 1st issue: when the vehicle is at a stop light, the car feels like it's going to jump forward even while the brake is depressed. i worry about rear-ending the car in front of me. then when the car is in park, the car begins to rev or idle high as if the accelerator has been pressed. 2nd issue: while in park or driving at low speeds of 30-35mph, the instrument panel quits working and the a/c stops as if the car was turned off. it'll then come back on and will continue to come on and off. the bad thing is that the hazard lights won't even work. there's no warning. we have already had the throttle body repaired last year in 2011 when we found out it's a common problem but not covered under warranty nor a recall issued. | |||

| Dash cluster malfunction for all gauges. at the time of malfunction, reverse lamps turn on. if malfunction occurs at night, dash illumination also shuts down. gauges zero out, top out then flutter at zero. have noticed airbag lamp on occasionally. | |||

| I too have a 2006 ford five hundred that will lunge forward at odd times especially when the a/c is on. in fact, i won't even use the a/c anymore because of my ford five hundred lunging forward. it is a major problem and i believe should have been recalled a long time ago. i bought my ford five hundred in jan 2006 and it has been doing it ever since. it will just lunge forward even when braking or stopped. what a pain. i am amazed i haven't rear ended someone. please recall this ford! | |||

| I had just bought a 2006 ford five hundred with about 131000 miles. drove great from the dealership then later that afternoon the throttle all of a sudden went dead. i was going 65 mph on the highway and had no throttle. i went online and researched the car and there have been numerous (upwards of 100+) people who have the same complaint. i just wish ford would recall the part so it's not going to cost me an arm and a leg to fix. | |||

| As i was backing out of a parking space in a parking garage the enigine reved up and jumped hitting a beam in the garage. upon impact the engine was still reved so i immediately turned the engine off and back on. the engine continued to rev up and the check engine and yellow wrench illuminated. the car was towed to a dealership in which they replaced the throttle body and the car was driven to a local body shop for repairs. total cost over $1200 yesterday, september 7, 2011, (mileage 108000 and speed from 0-40 mph) as i was driving to work the check engine light came on. each time i would stop the engine would rev and when i would accelerate it would jump and rev. not wanting a repeat of the last accident, i took it to a mechanic near work who stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced again along with the engine mount. total cost $1076 after resaerching this problem it seems that it is a typical issue with this type of vehicle. most have included that they are fearful that they will be injured or injure someone else in a accident. | |||

| Dear sirs: my 2006 ford 500 has a very dangerous defect that has been happening for over a year. i have complained about it several times to the ford dealer, but the car won't mess up when the dealer checks it out. today my wife started the car, placed her foot on the brake & shifted the car into reverse. before she had time to remove her foot from the brake pedal, the engine sped up & the car tried to move backward. it's a good thing she had her foot on the brake. the exact same thing has happened before in forward gear. i was in the car beside her & i witnessed her foot on the brake when the car tried,on it's own to take off. it's a scary situation & i need some help to resolve the problem. | |||

| No injuries...yet. however, our 2006 ford five hundred accelerates for no apparent reason at all. it does it when going forward or reverse and will stop by either tapping the accelerator pedal or turning off the car and restarting it. i will be bringing the car in for service this week, but just want to bring this problem to your attention as it seems other individuals have reported the same situation. | |||

| Starting since february 2010. my car lunges forward whenever at a dead stop. when shifting to drive and reverse. i have had to have my foot on brake and even almost had an accident while parking and hit the wall. went to dealership and first they said it was my engine mount that was causing it. then went again because the problem still occurred and they said i needed a new battery. then they claimed it was my air filter which is a lie. i called the ford headquarters and all they can do is take down when i called and what it was about. they are no help whats so ever so what is the point of them even existing if they cant help solve the problem. they claim each dealer is independent and that they can advise that i go to a different dealership. i have wasted a good deal of time and money. luckily i was smart and bought that premium extended warranty. i still have spent close to over $400 on repairs. each time i went i had to pay a deductable of $100.00. the battery i went to sams club to get because the dealer wanted $140 but i got mine for $75. they advised to get my throttle body clean and that was $95. they said i need to have my transmission flushed which is another lie. i didn't get that done because i only have 60,000 miles on the vehicle. the transmission fluid was as red as can be and is still good for probably another 40,000 miles. the point is ford knows about the problem and they do not want to fix the problem it apparently is happening to tons of folks out there. they need to just fix it because even though i had my throttle body cleaned the problem still comes back here and there. i just hope that no one gets killed and then ford will finally get this right. i plan on seeing if i can get some legal help and will explore that avenue because i get my oil changes almost ever 3500 miles and i follow all the manufactures service policies. i do my part as a customer and they havent done there part as the company that made the vehicle. | |||

| I bought my 2006 ford 500 used in 2009 and only a few months afterwards i experienced lurching of the vehicle while i was slowing accelerating or reversing. this almost caused me to crash into my garage and is very dangerous when i am reversing in a parking lot as there are pedestrians. this happened randomly for about 9 months with no aftereffects. no light turned on or anything seemed to wrong other than the random lurching. however, 9 months after i purchased the vehicle i was stopped in drive to let my family out of my car in a parking lot and the car lurched while i had my foor on the brake and the gear in drive. the wrench light then came on and the car drove oddly (sounded wierd and didn't accelerate well) after that. i eventually parked it and when i returned and turned the car back on the light was off and the car sounded fine. then 2 months later i started my car and put it into reverse and immediately noticed the car sound wierd again and was not accelerating. i put it into drive and basically coasted to the side of the road because there was no acceleration. the wrench light was on again. this time i had to have it towed to the dealership where they told me i had to replace the throttle body assembly. i have not had it repaired yet as i am fighting with them about the warranty i purchased and trying to find the best price as this seems to be a recurring problem. | |||

| I own a 2006 ford five hundred, limited edition. when the car is put in gear, either drive or reverse, with my food on the brake, it lurches forward or backwards 75% of the time. i bought my car used almost two years ago with 71,000 miles, and thought the lurching was normal. i took my car to a repair shop, and they said it was the type of transmission. upon further research, i found out their theory was false, and it turns out the throttle body goes bad after about 30,000 miles. the lurching occurs at least once a day, even after the car has been running for over 30 minutes. i have been lucky that i have not injured anyone with the sudden lurching because i work in a busy downtown city. since i park in crowded lots and garages, i have come extremely close to hitting other vehicles while i'm simply putting my car in park. the problem wasn't as bad when i first bought the car, but now that it's getting older, i'm really noticing the lurching occurring more frequently. when another member of my family drove my car recently, a fence on our property was struck due to the lurching. thus far, i have not been able to rectify this issue because the part needed (throttle body) is currently on back order for a few months. i'm hoping ford is forced to recall this problem because it has the potential of being dangerous or even deadly. | |||

| The 2006 ford 500 we own has problems with both rear doors. whenever it rains, the doors fill up with water and it's almost impossible to get the water out. some can be released by shaking the door but most stays in the door. i am worried about mold forming as well as failure of the electronic windows and door lock mechanisms. this has been occurring for some time. | |||
