| The paint is bubbling up all along the lower edge of the hoodline. there are no chips. dealership looked at the hood and explained that the hood is made from aluminum and can corrode. the dealership then pointed out several other areas of corrosion under the hood that are not visible from the hood top. dealership says this is not covered after the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty or the 5yr/unlimited rust. to fix the one spot was quoted over $100. | |||

| The vehicle surges/lunges forward/backward when going from park to reverse/drive without any gas being applied. when brake is applied the vehicle still doesn't stop and i have no control of the car when it happens. the car mainly does it when the air condition is on, but will do it other times as well. the car has shut off twice while driving with the wrench light appearing on the instrument cluster. when i tried to restart the car it shut off again. when i turned the air conditioning off the car stopped shutting off. this is very dangerous and should be recalled by ford, before someone gets seriously hurt. i'm having to pay out $800 for a part that has been reported by thousands of other ford owners. ford needs to recall this part. | |||

| Car accelerates when air conditioning is on (more so when turning wheel) whether in drive or reverse. already had accident in reverse. noted several complains about this from owners on google. almost had another accident in jack in the box drive thru where car accelerated unexpectedly. missed car in front of me by inches. had foot on brake, car was in drive but not moving when this happen. acceleration over powered brake pressure. very, very scary. please help. otherwise love car. please contact my cousin. see below. | |||

| The a/c at low speeds was putting out warm air in 90f temperature. this was caused by a leaking seal and the compressor was failing. the fix was $1200 at a local dealer. | |||

| For several months car has been lunging forward without my foot on the gas. a couple weeks ago while pulling into my driving way it lunged and the car ran into my concrete steps causing 3,500 worth of damage. this is very dangerous and could have been one of my daughters. i really hope you take this seriously because once lives are lost you can't get them back. i just want ford to fess up and to take responsibility for this problem, so i may get it fixed and not kill or injure anyone. | |||

| The vehicle lunges when shift lever is moved from park to drive or reverse upon starting. it does not happen everytime, but when it does happen, it is a marked move, enough to go thru a garage, jump a curb or hit a passerby. it seems to happen more often when the car is started, and then waiting a few seconds before moving the shift (time to put on seat belt). put your foot on brake, shift to gear and wonder if it will jump or not. it became noticable at about 65,000 miles and has become worse. the car has about 76,000 miles on it now. it seems other ford 500 owners are experience similar problems. i would hope ford does something to rectify this issue. | |||

| I have a 2007 ford 500 that started surging forward and backward. i took the car and my extended warranty to a ford dealership only to learn that the dealer that i bought the car from had back-dated my warranty to the time the car was put in service. (i had purchased the car as a program car.) my warranty had run out according to them 6 days before i took it to the dealership. i wrote a letter to ford and they refused to honor it even though i thought i had purchased a 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty. the car is still surging forward and backward and ford refuses to do anything. i will never purchase another ford product. i have owned lincolns and fords all of my life and i will never get another one. i cannot believe ford refuses to take care of their customers. this is obviously a safety hazard that ford needs to repair. seeing all of the complaints that people have sent in, ford knows that they are in the wrong and still they do nothing. | |||

| The ford five hundred's engine shuts off as you turn the wheel, that's how it started out. a few days later, the car's engine would shut off just driving straight down the road. after the engine shuts off the steering wheel will lock up and not move. i was lucky enough to be able to pull over and turn the key to off position. after turning key to off position, i turned the car back on and it drove fine until i either turned a corner or it just shut off as i went straight. after speaking with our local ford dealer we were told that they have had quite a few ford five hundred owners come in with the same problem. this car is only four years old and 84,000 (plus) miles on it. this car shouldn't be acting like that. it will cost $800+ to get it fixed, if what they do will fix it. with all those other complaints coming into the dealership, i wonder how many others' in the us are having the same problem. the issue needs to be fixed. thanks | |||

| The air condition in this car stopped working; only hot air was blowing out. after taking it to a mechanic, i was told it was due to a leaking air compressor. i was told multiple ford five hundred's have been taken in for the same problem. my husband also drives a 2007 ford fusion and is having the exact same issue with his vehicle. i called several mechanic's and dealerships to try and get a price comparison for this issue and all of them told me the same thing - this issue has been happening with so many 2007 ford vehicles...i think this deserves some research. the compressor should not go out in a car at 72,000 miles. | |||

| I just bought my 2007 ford five hundred 3 weeks ago and i was driving and all of a sudden the rpm starting going up really high the throttle light(wrench) came on and my car started slowing down. i pulled over, just avoided getting smashed in the rear from a truck and my car stopped moving. i cut the car off then tried to crank it back up at first it didn't start then it cranked 2nd time but then the check engine light was on and stayed on. i took it to a mechanic he said something about a throttle code he said he wanted to give it a second chance. he reset the codes and all lights were off. well, about 2 days later while driving to work the same thing happened which he said shouldn't happen anymore. i called he said something about ford having to order the part and fix the car. i went on several online forums and found that many other ford 500 hundred customers were/are having the same problem and when they tried to get it fixed it only re-appeared again later. something is not right with this. this should be a recall.. sincerely, very very unsatisfied first time ford customer....... | |||

| We have a 2007 ford five hundred and have had issues with the throttle body causing a surge and lunge when we put the car from idle to reverse or drive. the car will lunge forward suddenly causing some near accidents. on two seperate occasions when the temperatures are in the 90's and the ac is on full blast the car will surge and lunge in reverse and then stall. the mechanic said it was do to an issue with the throttle body and that there have been many other similar complaints. i was thinking that there should be some sort of recall for the throttle body in ford five hundreds, because this is a major safey issue! | |||
