Tl- the contact owns a 2010 ford focus. while driving approximately 5 mph, the contact noticed a clunking sound coming from the front end of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technician advised that all four tires would have to be replaced. after the replacement of the tires the failure continued. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the technician then advised that the front and rear tires would have to be replaced a second time because an alignment was not performed in time. additionally, whenever the vehicle was driven over an uneven road surface, there was a loud bang coming from the front end of the vehicle. the contact stated that the tire wear was not because of the alignment but because of a safety defect within the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 16,754. kmj

Was told by dealer that the hankook optimo h725 brand tires on my car have failed. i was advised not to drive the car for long trips, and to replace the tires asap. i have 24,000 miles on 3 of the tires and 16000 on another. i already had to replace one tire because of a sidewall bubble. *tr

Steering wheel vibration is felt upon application of the brakes. the vibrations are stronger at higher speeds. an automotive specialist told me it is a characteristic of the ford focus due to underdesigned suspension components. this can create a potential safety hazzard at interstate speeds (65mph) due to the strong vibrations in the steering wheel. *tr

I bought this car new with 182 miles on it. i had all of the service performed at the dealership where i bought it (all-star ford in palestine, tx), beginning with the oil changes. at the first oil change, i had the tires rotated. after that, i had them rotated at every other oil change (without exception) and at 18,940 miles, i am told that all four of the tires of cupped on the inside tread. all the dealership wants to do is sell me more tires and suggest that i have them rotated at every oil change. for a car that has less than 20,000 miles on it, this is unacceptable. my first reaction was to put it back into the showroom! right through the glass windows! but, i refrained. nonetheless, this is a design defect and should be corrected by the manufacturer.

Vehicle constantly bottoms out over minor pot holes in road or over speed bumps...if dip in freeway at freeway speeds the jolt will knock your teeth out. been to dealer and independent mechanics and all say that suspension system is intact and nothing bent or broken. it is horrible however to have to experience. the shocks must be horrible and not well built for the car. have had constant tire wear from poor alignment and again, it's the front suspension that does not hold.

Car bottoms out bad it does not matter if you are doing five mph over a speed bump or 35 mph and go into a corner most of te time the car will bottom out and if you are out on the freeway doing 65 mph and hit a dip or a sharp corner in the road hold on because it almost jars your teeth loose because it bottoms out so bad i havehad to checkeed by ford nothing can be done about it told it was just the nature of this car

The car bottoms out easily when driving on paved roads. if you hit a slight variation in the road, you have to slow way down or the car hits bottom. going over dirt roads or crossing railroad tracks requires a minimal, barely moving speed. the tire pressure is accurate. ford dealer tells me there is nothing wrong.

Both tires on back cupped and i was told by dealer that it was because i did not rotate them. i had to buy tires and also pay for alignment. now at 56251 miles it did it again. took it to dealer again and now they day it needs a rear adjustment kit that cost $240.00 dollars and i have to pay for it. the service consultant said it was a factory defect but ford says it isn't and they will not pay for it. also i took it in because it makes a loud thump when i hit a bump. i told them it sounds like shocks are bad but they said nothing is wrong with car.

Both rear tires started making noise. took it to dealer and they said i had to replace 2 tires cause they cupped. bought 4 new tires and had an allignment done. did everything they told me i had to do and now again tires cupped. took it to dealer and now they said it needs a rear adjustment kit that cost over $900 plus labor, new tires and allignment. ford nor dealer want to cover all cost. also makes a loud thump when going over bump like shocks are bad. took it to dealer and they said shocks were good and nothing was wrong with it.

SUSPENSION - FRONT

I had similar problem as complaint filed odi10307817. i would have a loud noise like the car suspension was bottoming out when going over moderate bumps. i also had excessive tire wear on front tires at only 32000 miles, front tires had to be replaced. ford said they could not duplicate the problem of bottoming out after much complaining ford finally fixed everything but said the front end was out of alignment. when asked what was done to fix the problem was informed that the subframe had to be adjusted and because of that an alignment had to be performed. i even found on ford's website a service bulletin for there service technicians for the loud noise when bottoming out.
