I have reported to the dealership several times about the jerking and stalling when i take off and attempt to accelerate. they reprogrammed the transmission module, but it still does it.

The new vehicle was purchased on 9/3/12. calls to the service department began on 9/5/12 for complaints of 'bucking and jerking' of the car in low speed shifting. the car was accepted on 9/8/12 for repair of multiple paint chips on the front of the car and for evaluation of the shifting irregularities. upon delivery of the car (53 odometer miles) the customer was informed that the paint chips had been repaired and the transmission computer was reset. the computer reset was not recorded on the service agreement for that date. on 12/5/12, the car abruptly stopped accelerating and metal grinding prevented use. the car was held from 12/5/12 until 1/8/13 (35 days, odometer reading 7,068 miles) for repair of a broken rear window channel, repair of transmission with replaced clutch. on 1/23/13 the vehicle was towed again due to not starting during multiple attempts by the owners and the tow truck driver. the vehicle was returned to the owner on 1/25/13 with a service report noting a weak battery. the battery was charged by the service provider and no other service codes were reported. on 1/28/13, the steering wheel required both hands to turn and the car narrowly missed going off of the road. upon attempt to restart, the ignition was weak and multiple warning lights displayed on the dashboard. the odometer reading reset to '0' and the mpg reading went blank. the car had significant change in ignition sound and with uncharacteristic humming noise and was turned off again. when the car was on the tow truck with the ignition off, key out, and door open, the radio began playing and could not be manually turned off. the car was transported to the dealership. as of 2/3, the car has been out of service for 46 days due to multiple infractions. the vehicle has had symptoms of stalling, failure to start, and loss of power steering. alternator being replaced 2/4.

I was driving and heard many strange noises coming from the roof of the car. when i slid open the sunroof hatch i saw the sky through a hole in the sunroof and shattered glass. when i arrived to my destination i inspected the hole from the outside and noticed that the sunroof glass broke in an upward manner. (if it had been hit with a rock or something i assume it would have broken downwards & would have found the object) it looked as if the glass exploded. the remaining glass still in the sunroof is bubbled and barely staying in tact. i commute to work via public transportation and the sunroof had not been used in months.

Have a 2012 focus se. purchased in may of 2010. since july of 2010, i have been taking it to the local dealership where i purchased the vehicle complaining that the car was surging, shuddering, and when i hit the gas pedal, it feels like the car stalls, gets no gas, or has trouble getting into gear. of course, there are no known issues until a recall. finally, the problem can be addressed. i take it in, they fix it it still shudders, and feels like it's going to stall out in the intersection. next thing, my car overheats and dies at 11pm on the side of the interstate. i take to a different dealership and they say, well the clutch is bad and the cooling system is bad. great 2012 car and two items have already went out. they change the clutch and cooling system, now when i back up, it grinds and bogs down. i have had my car for 2 years in may, 39,000 miles on it, and it's been in the shop a total of 4 times. they have changed the clutch and the cooling system. was told the clutch needed several hundred miles to break in gave it about 500, still grinds when i back up, more so on an incline. although now, it's decided it wants to studder when it starts. so it's back int eh shop for the 4th time, and i'm yet again in a rental car. i have a customer service guy through ford, he's useless... i can't even get him to return a phone call. what is the point of him being there if he's not going to do his job. i don't feel that i'm getting any resolutions from the local dealerships i have dealt with, or from your customer care manager. i want a replacement vehicle. i have worked with ford over 2 years and the vehicle is still having problems. of course the dealership tells me this is an isolated issue. please go to edmunds, com and you will see that this is not an isolated issue... there are multiple reports of the same problems that i am having.

These vehicles have two problems with the transmission that cause two separate safety issues. one is that it rolls back when you are moving your foot from the brake to the gas regardless of how fast you move it. the second is that, while they are saying that it is an automatic transmission, it has another sort of problem with the transmission because it is a dual one that acts as a standard and causes it to stutter as it moves down the road. when you pull out it doesn't want to go.

I was stopped, at a parking lot exit, waiting to enter a thoroughfare, engine idling, with my foot lightly on the brake. suddenly, the car accelerated forward, into the traffic lane, as though someone had pressed the accelerator pedal to the floor, or nearly so. i took a 45 mph t bone on my driver`s side door. i was shaken, but not injured and my elderly wife suffered a severe heart bruising from the seat belt. i was wearing a tight-fitting baseball cap, which was laying on the back seat. i figure the air bag saved me from a serious injury. i was not ticketed, but i lost about $10,000.00 on the deal and i am paying a small fortune for my insurance now, through no fault of mine. i have an excellent driving history, up to this point. ## vin passed ## ford focus titanium 2012 ##

After feeling the automatic transmission was excessivley lurchy, i came to stop at a traffic light on a busy road. when the light turned green i sat revving my engine and was unable to get the car to move. i put car in park and then back in drive with the same results. i tried the s mode with manual shifting and car still did not move. i eventually turned the car completely off and back on and this seemed to correct the problem. i found the situation very dangerous . apparently from what the dealership said the clutch was not engaging. it is an automatic transmission car.

On 8/27/2012 i drove off the car lot with 7 miles on my new car. i noticed a little bit of rough shifting as the day passed. on 8/28 the car started bucking and jerking during acceleration. there was little power on inclines. the problem progressively got worse through the day. i set up an appointment to drop off for service the next day. took in for service on 8/29 and was told that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the car had 187 miles on it. on 8/30 i was told the car was fixed and i picked up my car. within a few miles the problem was back, but worse this time. i had some slight noise coming from the engine when the car was bucking and jerking. it almost stalled on a busy highway in rush hour traffic several times while on my way back to the dealer. it was struggling. the car is back in service with 220 miles on it. now they want to keep it for at least 3-4 days. 8/31 i was asked to drive the car with the mechanic to see if problem would reoccur. with the exception of a kick while pulling out of the dealership, the car drove ok, although we only drove around a block together. sales manager says that if the mechanic can't find any further problem, then i have to take the car back into my possession since it's my car. he says that sometimes things happen and i have to deal with it and let the mechanics do their job. i've had the car in my possession under 30 hours since i purchased it on 8/27. the car also has an issue with rolling back on an incline.

When making a left turn from a main road onto a side street i encounter massive grinding noises coming from what sounded like my left fron tire area. i thought maybe it was my imagination. from then on there is intermittant noises coming from that area (sounds like plastic rubbing on something) i took it to the dealership on sat, 7/14 they did a visual saftey exam and found nothing wrong but they did rotate my tires just in case. i am also experiencing a grinding noise when pressing on the gas from about 0-20 mph (going straight) (sounds separate from the grinding isues under the tire, but i am unsure if this is related. i am scheduled to take the car back to the dealership on 7/19 to see if they can find a problem. very frustrating as this car is just over 6 months old!

I was driving on freeway at 5 mph due to traffic and all of a sudden my 2012 ford fucus shut down with no warning it sort of scared me because didn't know why? i said ok maybe just a coinsidence but to my surprise it happened again on freeway since thats my daily route was going 45mph and again turned off i took to get serviced since i drive from riverside to burbank everyday thought maybe needs to get serviced and mentioned to fellow a ford but said well if it happens again bring it in and will check it out so i said ok well hopefully not but it happend for 3rd time and i was going 70 mph and almost got in an accident thank god no one was next to me had to stop because it turned off completelty but this time said transmission on screen so i took it to ford and i explained everything to them because i'm scared i'm not gonna make it home to my family again because going at 70 mph on freeway and all of a sudden car shuts down imagine how scared i was..... the people at ford checked it out and took it for a drive on freeway and said it was fine nothing came up but hello it doesn't happen everyday they explained they checked other ford stores to see if they have heard of such problem and supposibly it hasn't but i'm reading some of these complaints and i see some are related so i need to find out wht to do because i honestly do not feel safe driving this car just thinking when am i going to crash or die not fair that they don't want to see the problem so what needs to happen for them to do something for me to die.... i don't even let my wife drive it because it is not safe.....

I turned onto a residential street that has a steep grade. as i accelerated uphill, the trunk opened without any input from myself (driver and sole occupant of the vehicle). the doors and trunk were locked at the time of occurrence. there were a few items in the trunk when the incident took place, none of which exited the trunk.

My car has been having issues with the transmission that ford installed in the 2012 ford focus. the car shudders and hesitates on take off to the point of it stalling. the car has been in the dealership six times now. at this point ford is installing new clutches and i will have to wait another 1,000 miles until these new clutches brakes in to see if the issue persists. i have read in forums and articles that i

I purchased a 2012 ford focus hatch. as soon as we drove the car we noticed the difference in the transmission. the sales man said he didn't feel it and that the car had to learn our driving habits. don't think a car learns 2 different driving habits as there are 2 of us driving it. but at low speeds either accelerating or decelerating the car shutters and shimmies way too much for our comfort. it seems this is an electronic problem but we thought we'd bring it in to have a trained tech look at it. the first attempt was a new module and that should fix it.... it didn't... so in a second time for a remapping of the computer...didn't help. ....in for a third time and the tech says ford is not allowing any fixes on this car... we have to wait! really? wait? i bought a brand new $21,000 car...... an automatic car! i been told it has to learn how i drive... i've been told it needs broke in...it has 5000 miles on it now how long does it take to break in?i'm told that it's as if i am driving a manual and this is normal.........hello!!!!! not a manual. i'm told this is just how this transmission reacts... and along with the shuttering is the hesitation upon accelerating that could cost me my life on a busy highway............... the remote key lock has confusion issues. it doesn't always recognize the signal and it has to be opened or locked manually. all i want is a fix and if there is no fix i want to be able to implement the lemon law on this car........ i expected more from ford for my 30 plus years of loyalty. after all isn't that what has kept ford going? all of us loyal customers that stayed with them thru the hard times? my family has bought over $100,000 in new ford cars and trucks and plenty of used ones as well. i really am sad that ford hasn't stepped up on this one and i am so sure i am not alone. listen ford execs..... we are paying attention!!! thank you!

This vehicle has some scary and sometimes dangerous transmission issues. it's not like a normal automatic with a torque converter, so some roughness is expected. but, this car often grinds gears, slips, grabs and lunges, and also rolls back on inclines. i have nearly been in several accidents when i have tried to accelerate into an intersection and the vehicle doesn't respond to the accelerator being depressed completely to the floor. it sometimes acts as if you are trying to start from a stop in 3rd or 4th gear. ford motors has continually said these problems are normal and the vehicle needs some break-in time. well, this vehicle now has over 6,000 miles. i don't think it's going to get better. if i get into an accident because of this, there are going to be some serious problems to handle with ford. i know i'm not alone in these problems. i have been on forums with many people having the same issues.
