| 1. the air conditioner failed, had to be replaced june 2011. it just gradually did not cool the air at all. fan on ac worked fine, all controls as well, just no cool air. $850. the vehicle lunges forward or backward, more noticeable when starting to back up. had valves cleaned. worked temporarily. looking at major repair bill for throttle body or transmission, don't know which.. | |||

| Without warning, when my 2005 ford freestyle is in drive or reverse, it surges and i have to be ready to brake or crash into something. following the surge, the orange wrench light comes on and i have to shut the car off and restart it, and then it will go away. i took it to the dealer and they said they have not had any other complaints like mine. they scanned the car at the dealership, but there were no codes. they advised that unless i can make the surge happen, not to leave the car. | |||

| I have a 2005 ford freestyle. the vehicle randomly surges in forward an reverse. i have found many complaints online saying it is the throttle body. it seems to happen most often when first shifting out of park to reverse or forward. happens even more often when air is on. it is very disappointing there has been nothing done about this. this vehicle is supposed to be a safe family car!! it has put my son and wife in many close calls. i hope nhtsa makes ford do something about this and soon!! | |||

| I have a ford freestyle 2005 that has an a/c issue. as i have done some online research there are many complaints. it doesn't stay cool when the car idles. neither does it cool the car down in the 90-100 degree weather. took the car to a mechanic and he said it would $1100 to replace the compressor. he said the problem is that you have to get the compressor from ford and they have a huge back log of orders and they weren't sure when he could get it. i think this problem should be looked into. online there are many, many, many complaints exactly like mine. ford should stand behind their product and offer some kind of reimbursement to those of us who own this vehicle. | |||

| Throttle body replaced after car did not start - 2005 ford freestyle. prior to replacement, jerking/lurching of the vehicle once started and foot off the gas pedal. hesitated to start on many occasions if car is parked on an incline as if no gasoline in vehicle. also, on occasions, car stalled in the middle of the street, but started up after several tries. during replacement, ford representative indicated that the part just went out - nothing could have prevented it. cost $600+ to fix which also caused additional parts (spark plugs, fuel sensor) required. diagnosis indicated, throttlebody plates stuck, fuel sensor injector pressure replaced). dealership kept old parts except spark plugs. | |||

| 2005 ford freestyle intermittently stalls or lunges forward/reverse. this has occurred while driving on highway, when placed in reverse, and when placed in drive. code reader resulted in codes p061b and p2106. many online forums and automechanic websites identlfy the same dangerous scenarios with the same code reader results. dealerships also acknowledge this is a very common and dangerous defect in the ford freestyle, yet no recall has ocurred and repairs are expensive. | |||

| Sitting at a red light and the car lurched forward when foot was on the brake. almost got hit in the middle of an intersection. car then immediately went into failsafe mode and would not go over 30 mph. took it to dealer and was determined that throttle body assembly needed to replaced. then was told a week later that the part was backordered and would not be available for over 90 days. dealer then told me it was ok to drive. no way i'm putting my family in this car which could gas forward on it's own as it is a drive by wire system. many people reporting the same problems. ford even has a technical service bulletin issued regarding this problem--tsb 05-25-13. same problem happened to volvo's which use same parts. hopefully more reports of this will cause ford to recall the part! and also after every two fill ups the fuel level sending unit goes bad. *tr | |||

| Car stalls daily three times while driving, dealer cleaned the throttle body still stalls, another dealer cleaned the maf and changed the spark plugs and change cvt transmission fluid, still stalling. need a new throttle body it is a common deffect with ford and very dangerous some one will get killed because of it. my cvt transmission start to slip and and needs replacement. | |||
