| Car was stopped at a red light, while releasing brake pedal, car surged forward on its own. this took place at three consecutive stoplights in one afternoon. one week later, backing car up in parking lot, when brake pedal was released, car surged backward on its own. when changing from reverse to forward, car engine died. waited a few moments and car restarted. wrench light on dash was then on. took to dealership and they replaced etb electronic throttle body. | |||

| Vehicle accelerates when the air conditioner is on. it accelerates on its own and there have been a few occasions when i have almost rear-ended people. i now know that i have to stay more than the usual distance from the car ahead of me, in order to avoid a collision. this happens all the time when the air conditioner is on. this is not an occasional occurance. at times, it also seems like the car is going to stale out. i have not taken it to the dealership or to a repair shop, due to a lack of funds to try to diagnose and correct the issue. | |||

| I have a 2006 ford freestyle that has recently started lurching forward, despite having the brake pedal depressed. this seems to occur at low speeds (i.e. - parking a car). the issue seems to appear more frequently when the car/temperature is hot. | |||

| 2006 fordfreestyle. vehicle acts to stall and then jumps forward. backing out and turning on my ac and lunges forward and backwards. thought it was a gas issue and used cleaner for tank and still happened several times randomly. would slow at a stop light and then jump forward. pressed the brake pedal to stop it from moving. no mishaps. just concerned what was making it do this. | |||

| Surging from a while brake applied or when letting off brake but before applying gas. front end noises when turning to right, loud creaking sound. brakes make a creaking sound also but show now signs of needing to be replaced. all issues started at the same time | |||

| Tl-the contact owns a 2006 ford freestyle. the contact stated that when trying to reverse, the vehicle lurched and suddenly accelerated. the wrench light illuminated on the instrument panel. she turned off the vehicle and restarted; the light turned off but the vehicle stalled and lurched forward. she turned it off again and restarted it; the vehicle suddenly stalled again but turned on immediately again. the dealer picked up the vehicle and made computer adjustments and cleaned the fuel injection system. the failure continued as another driver stated that the vehicle lurched forward when attempting to stop. the contact noticed the wrench light illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle stalled. the vehicle decelerated suddenly while the contact was driving. the vehicle was taken to a repair shop and the mechanic stated that the throttle body was defective; when he test drove the vehicle, he experienced no failures. the contact noticed that all the failures occurred when the air conditioner was on high or medium high. additionally, the air conditioning compressor failed and no longer functioned. the contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. the current mileage was 67,001. the failure mileage was approximately 24,000-bk | |||

| For the past 4 or 5 weeks, when your foot is on the brake, the car would rev-up and try to take off. this past week, i have been is stopped traffic and the reving up and trying to take off with my foot on the brake has gotten worse and today my car died in the missle of traffic. it did finally start back up, but the service department said that it was the throttle body and it would cost, starting at $700.00. the dealership said that they alone have fixed over 10. we live in a town of 3500 people. this is so stupid!. i should not be out this money!!! | |||

| This complaint is in addition to complaint #10277570. after writing my initial complaint as explained i have found out that ford quit using the initial manufacture of the throttle control unit that failed. they just recently came out with a replacement part that requires modification of the system and we understand that they are quickly running out of this part. even our service reps feels this should be a recall item. especially if they cannot keep the parts on the shelf. *tr | |||

| Our vehicle was cruising at interstate speeds when it attempted to accelorate due to an incline in the road. suddenly the vehicle wrench light along with the anti slip light came on and the engine rpm's increased but the vehicle did not accelerate. i took the car off cruise and applied the gas and received the same results, high rpm but no acceleration. the car would not accelerate no matter what i did. we eventually pulled off the highway and stop at a gas station where we turned the car off and fueled up. after leaving the gas station we have not experienced the issue since. we took it to our mechanic the next day who said we needed to replace the tranmission for about $5000. after doing research i have found out the many ford freestyle owners have had to replace their transmissions along with replacing the electronic throttle control (which ford eventually placed a recall on). we have had the etc repaired but the transmission being shot is unacceptible. | |||

| Bought a 2006 freestyle less than 24 hours ago. noticed the a/c not working and the acceleration not working and lots of smoke. pulled over off the highway and then the car broke down approximately 18 hours after the deal was done with 45 miles on the car. *nm | |||

| I have had nothing but issue after issue. it started with my brakes failing like several others that i have read. it now surrounds my 6 cd player that either melts or won't play. i have had it into the ford dealership a few times to no avail. on 03-12-08 the electrical panel only lights up partially, and after shaking the front dash board a few time all lights popped on. i have talked to service managers and they have done what they have the ability to do. this vehicle is a 2006 ford freestyle and i would not recommend it to anyone for purchase. *tr | |||
