The transmission is bad in the car. the 2006 ford fusion was purchased brand new and the extended warenty expired, the transmission went bad. what makes it so bad is that the car only has a little over 46000 miles. so many people have submitted complaints and i want to know what is ford going to do to correct the problem and reimburse us at least some of the money that we had to pay for the transmission. *tr

I was accelerating as i was entering/merging onto the highway. the vehicle jerked violently and stopped with a loud thud. after the sudden stop, driving on the highway was erratic, meaning the rpm and shifting was all over the place. i exited as soon as the next exit was available. then, even though the vehicle was in drive, it went out of gear and i was unable to propel the vehicle forward. i had the vehicle towed to the dealership. the dealership stated that the valve body of the transmission would need to be replaced. this is due to ford tsb due to part of the transmission that is defective. refer to nhtsa #10021277. if i had been merging into traffic or if i had been attempting to cross the street and the vehicle will not propel itself forward in the manner i expect, it could lead to serious accident. please have ford recall this part for all such vehicles so no one gets injured or killed. *tr

After 3 months of purchasing my 2006 ford fusion i was experiencing transmission problems that causes my car to jerk and lock in gear. thus, prevents me from driving on the freeway and main streets. a cautious driver is not a good driver. *tr

Driving on freeway 70 mph when all of a sudden there was nothing when i pressed on the gas...felt like it was in neutral. this car was purchased on may 29,2012 for our 16 year old daughter. thank goodness i was driving the vehicle and not her. very dangerous!! we didn't know ford fusion's had transmission problems; we never would have purchased the car in the first place. *tr

Car equipped with aisin f21 6 speed automatic transmission. when the automatic transmission down shifted there was a loud clunk and the car slowly came to a halt. the engine rpm increased as i tried to get the vehicle to move off to the side of the road. after shutting the car off and restarting it was able to get me home. the next time i drove it, it was fine for a while and did it again. took it to the ford dealer and was told it needed an new transmission control valve body. i asked if there had been problems with this transmission in other fusions and they said none that they knew of. in looking on the internet i find that this transmission has been a problem for many people from the years 2005-2010. check service bulletin put out by ford # 08-24-1 publication date nov. 13 2008. i am sure there are other service bulletins also. many people have had their vehicle stop on a very busy highway and have been put in danger because of the above problem. since ford had been aware of this problem they should have had a recall to correct it in the interest of public safety. thank you *tr

My transmission is slipping a lot. i will be accelerating my speed and all of the sudden my car acts like it is in neutral. i have read a lot of complaints from other ford fusion owners stating the same problem. this needs to be recalled. this is very unsafe. driving on the highway and then all of the sudden your transmission slips and there are cars at fast speeds traveling next to you and behind you is not safe at all. *tr

Transmission slipping at downshift at around 35 mph. dealer changed fluid. helped for around 3 weeks and started again. today 7/24/2012 transmission slipped out of gear entering highway rt 78 at rt 100 and almost involved in a crash, had to pull on to shoulder to avoid it. ford clearly knows of the problems with the aisin transmission and should be held responsible for any repairs. the problem is with valve bore wear in the main control or megatronic. why should citizens be made to pay for faulty parts used in construction ? *tr

I was driving up a steep hill when the transmission began to slip in and out of gear. several very loud clunking noises were heard under the vehicle like the transmission was not working properly. i began to slow down on a busy road with several car behind me due to the fact that the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle directly behind me almost ran right into the rear end of the car with my 7 week old son in the back. when i took it to the dealership they followed the tsb 08-24-1 recommendations and said that i needed a new transmission. this vehicle is very dangerous to drive now. i will not take it on the road due to the fact that it will not accelerate at times. this problem only occurs after about 1 hour of driving the vehicle. a recall is needed! *tr

Purchased 2006 ford fusion sel 6 cyl, new. and about year ago starting having transmission problems. upon accelerating between 25-40, the transmission jumps in and out of gear, often making a loud banging noise and taking away all acceleration. in order for it to get back into gear, you have to completely let of the gas and it will eventually go back into gear. this allows for minimal accelerator at best when trying to speed up. this failure occurs randomly everytime i drive the vehicle. if not fixed, the transmission in my car will eventually go bad. due to no codes showing up on the computer, that on the ford bulletin it was going to need a new valve body, transmission flush, and reprogramming. this is going to cost roughly $2200. the valve body, from ford, was $1400. i got into an accident in march of this year due to not being able to accelerate from another vehicle merging into my lane, transmission jumped out gear. *tr

Bought the car used with approx. 45,000 miles on it from ford dealership. within a week i was back at the ford dealership i bought it at. the car would not accelerate, stuck in gear, jerk violently. they gave me a loaner car to drive, another 06 ford fusion. they told me there was nothing wrong with the car and it was the way i drive. i told them i didn't have any problems with the loaner car or any other car i've ever driven or owned. they insisted i was wrong. over the next month i brought the car back to the dealership and encountered the same resistance. the problem got progressively worse and dangerous to drive to the point where i would be going 60+ mph on a highway and the car went into neutral. the transmission completely failed in 2010, at that time i had it replaced, costing $3,000. may 31, 2012 - approx 65,000 miles. similar problems again. car would not accelerate, very hesitant, entire car shakes violently while driving. check engine like came on. i took the car to my mechanic, he tested and determined three coils went bad. looked in the car and discovered the coils had actually melted. with research, determined the computer system had failed. coils and computer system need to be replaced. approx cost (so far) - $1500.00

2006 fusion sel. 1) ignition key gets stuck in ignition. approximately 9 incidents beginning may 2009 of parking the car, turning off the motor, key cannot be removed from ignition: 3-4 times the key could not be removed for over 48 hours; 4 - 5 times within 12 hours.. car can be locked if using the second remote-control key, but will unlock all doors with in 5 seconds when lock on the inside door is pushed and door is closed. have had the alarm go off 3 times when car door is opened after car left unattended for 15+ minutes, unlocked, with key stuck in ignition, but alarm has not sounded at all times for the same scenario. 2) chrome veneer on interior front door handles wrinkling and peeling. problem was beginning to show it self when car was purchased.

I have been having transmission problems with my car but the service light has never come on! i have also had the key stuck in the ignition! these problems are getting ridiculous and to have ford not cover them is just not acceptable! the transmission is slipping, not shifting when it is supposed to, downshifting hard. anytime i try to accelerate to pass, or speed up it bangs and jerks really hard i've almost driven off the road a few times because of how hard it bangs. it just keeps getting worse, to the point my kids ask me mom, what was that? this is a complete hazard to drive on the road cause you never know if or when it is going to happen. let alone having my kids in the car! i have been almost rear-ended a couple of times because the transmission slips and won't go into gear, all it does is rev the engine and if you take your foot off the gas to try and get the rpm's to go down, you really slow down and could cause an accident! is this what ford needs?! is for someone to get into a bad accident and get seriously injured or die in order to get this recalled?! this is happening to sooo many ford fusions and it is all over the internet with the exact same problems!! something needs to be done about this! there is no reason why they can recall the transmissions on the newer ford fusions but not the very first year it was out!! they know something is going on with these transmission, they just don't want to spend the money to fix them all and i find that absolutely ridiculous!! my kids should not have to ride in a car that could be the cause of an accident all because ford doesn't want to acknowledge there is a serious problem! it's not fair that i paid 20k for this car and when it has about 60k miles on it for the transmission to start to mess up and they want me to pay for it!! this is giving ford a bad name!!! i will never recommend a ford to anyone ever!!!

The car started about 2 years ago, slipping out of gear when having to accelerate. it also slams into gear when down shifting. this is very dangerous, my wife was getting on the interstate and it slipped out of gear and she had to coast off of the highway because there was a tractor and trailer quickly approaching. we also cannot go up any big hills or mountains. we have had it at the dealership when it first happened and they changed the transmission fluid and updated the computer. this cost $500. they finally came to the conclusion that it needed a new transmission which would cost $4000. we still owe over $12,000 and do not have the $4000 to replace the transmission.

2006 ford fusion sel v6 automatic transmission when trying to accelerate to enter the highway my car jerked violently when it slammed itself into gear it made a very loud noise when it shifted. i almost lost control of my vehicle. i took the car to a dealership to repair they said it was the throttle body and i have it replaced. less than 30 minutes of leaving the dealership it did it again . i had the dealership pick up the car because of the defective transmission and now they agree it needs to be replaced. however, i did further research and i have found that many consumers have the same complaint as mine and their are many sights available. why hasn't ford recalled this transmission. to ad more salt in my wound my insurance company is choosing to use a used 2006 transmission from 2006 ford fusion sel with 48,000 miles on it and to top it off the car tat this transmission is coming from was t-boned and totalled thanks geico so now im not a the mercy or ford but geico so now i have to get rid of my car because i am scared that his will occur again. if someone would just google ford fusion 2006 sel violently jerking.. you will see thousands of people having the same issue

Early may 2011 i was driving home at 65mph and i lost 5th gear. then 4th gear. on way to dealership i lost 3rd gear. warranty covered a brand new transmission. they claim after a week they finally got the transmission in and installed but they were waiting on a part for it because the transmission came with a part for a mazda 6 and wouldn't work. after two weeks they were finally done. took vehicle back to dealership on 09/26/2011 stating great difficulty getting vehicle to shift out of park. also stated there is an excessive amount of heat coming from the console in to the cabin above the transmission. also stated the transmission is shifting very hard at times. ford called today and stated the transmission has no problems at all and that i can't get out of park because the shift interlock sylionid needed to be replaced requiring that everything from the shifter and everything below all the way to the floorboard would have to be replaced costing over $400. i have found hundreds of complaints online involving the same issues. this is a major safety issue.

Transmission mishap, jumped out of gear while doing highway speeds resulting in near collision. transmission downshifts extremely hard causing car to jump and have erratic shifting. ford aware of problem, their recommendation is a new transmission resulting in a $4256.00 repair bill.

Bought the car in 2008 w/ 65,000 miles. within a few months of purchase noticed very violent upshifts while on the freeway and occasionally the car would slip into neutral while traveling @ 65-70mph (very scary). took car to dealership while under used car warranty and was told nothing was wrong and it was the way i was driving. we started filing complaints with ford but they were of no help and they have told us that the trans needs to be replaced. two years later (@75k miles) the transmission completely failed while driving (very dangerous). trans and tcm module needs to be replaced (approx: $5000) and not even sure if that will fix the problem.

06 ford fusion doesn't shift - i was travelling with my daughter from nv to az. after having driven 2 hours i exited the highway, stopped at a stop sign and was able to travel approximately a 100 feet when out of no where the engine revved up to 5000 rpms and stopped moving. the vehicles behind me were caught off guard because of my sudden stop in the middle of the road. i tried pushing the gas pedal to get us to the roadside before being rear-ended. the engine kept revving up and creeping toward the side. i pulled to the side of the road to let the cars behind me pass and waited 5 minutes before deciding i was not going to have my daughter and i in the middle of the night stranded on the side of the road. i pushed the gas pedal and got the car to very slowly excelerate and move without shifting but catching speed. once the car was moving at 60 mph there weren't any problems, but if i had to slow down or come to a stop the car would take forever to begin catching speed. i was able to get us to a safe place 25 mins away and parked the car until the next day. because it was a small town and a saturday there were no mechanics available until monday. i had to stay the weekend waiting for a mechanic. while waiting i did a google search and discovered the horrifying fact that ford is fully aware of this issue caused by them purchasing transmissions with faulty valve's. i am a single mother and it is unbelievable to me that ford can get away with selling a faulty product. i am taking my car to a transmission mechanic that was referred by a friend where i am going to determine if this issue can even be fixed. i only have 10 payments left on the car and am dumbfounded that i might have to spend 1/2 of what i owe on the car to fix a problem that ford caused. what does it take to get a recall like they did with the 2010 fusions?

I was driving on a highway at 65 miles per hour when all of sudden my car just started slipping out of gear. i have 70000 miles on my car and it started with abouit 63000 miles. i was just recently at a 2 way stop with the non stop being a highway of 64 miles per house in south dakota. i stopped and seen no cars coming and starting going across the intersection and my car wouldnt go into gear. i sat in the middle of the intersection trying to get it to go and finally after about 15 seconds i got it to run and luckily there was no traffic coming or i would had to get out of my car and run to the side because it wouldnt start going. i dont have the kind of money to go into a repair shop and spend 5000 dollars on a new transmission when i know that is what it is. it occurs probably once a day.

2006 ford fusion transmission slips out of gear and slams back into gear at highway speeds. also clunks into each gear as it is downshifting.

Transmission will not shift, this is the second time this has happened.the first time we took it to a repair shop and a rebuilt transmission was put in. then 9000 miles later it happened again.

Automatic transmission sticks when in slow moving, stop and go traffic on the highway. in several cases, i have nearly been hit from behind because the car does not accelerate immediately after putting my foot on the gas pedal and when the car finally does accelerate, there is a strong thump and it feels as if the transmission is going to fall out or as if i had been hit from behind.

I have a 2006 ford fusion sel with 40,500 miles on it. have to have transmission valve body replaced, $1800 repair. i've searched on line and found this to me a problem with many, many other ford fusions. contacted ford office and said there are no safety issues with the car. the tranny kicked so hard it brought my 14 year old daughter out of her seat, i do see this as a safety issue. it could cause a me to wreck, because you never know when its going to happen. still owe 9000 on this car, it's a same us consumers are having to put such money into a vehicle. ford needs to step up and make this right, this is an ongoing problem with this make of car.

2006 ford fusion v6.... my wife was driving on the expressway with my two year daughter in the back seat when the transmission slipped out of gear as if it went into neutral going 60mph. she let off the gas peddle and the transmission engaged . trying to get back up to speed she stepped on the gas peddle and the car jerked violently and caused it to slow down even more. she was able to get it back up to speed by slightly pushing down on the gas peddle.. after reading all the complaints, how is there not a forced recall!!!! this is extremely dangerous! the 2010 fusion has a recall for unsafe transmission issues, why not the 2006?

When driven in town car will stall for about 10 to 15 second then jerk forward around speed between 25- 40mph with a sudden increase in speed up to 10mph. when entering highway and merged into traffic.i began speeding up to 60 mph the transmission hesitatedthe stall for 10 seconds then jerked, like it finally shifted but then turn around and stall gain. the car would not respond to the gas pedal and was stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear one of them. i took the car to the dealer several times and the don't know what the problem, this sudden increased in speed is very dangerous during rush hour with traffic i nearly hit the car infront of me, the car stalling is very flighting when entering highway. this can cause a major highway accident
01/28/201163000
Entered highway and merged into traffic. began speeding up to around 55 mph and transmission hesitated and jerked, causing me to slow down to around 45 mph. the car would not respond to the gas pedal being pushed and was stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear. i coasted to the next exit where i exited the highway and drove to a safe place to stop. the trasmission light came on and i had the car checked at a nearby autozone to see if safe to drive. they could not duplicate problem but after stopped and restarting car, it did not happen again and transmission light went out. 63,000 miles on the vehicle...i had my 3 children, all under 5 yrs old with me...definitely a serious safety issue.

2006 ford fusion s 2.3 l with 5sp automatic transmission... with less than 20,000 miles i brought my car to a ford dealer and was told nothing was wrong with the transmission... now i know it sounds huge, but 3 years later hard shifting and sometimes refusing to shift for a car with an msrp of 19800 and 100000 more miles of extremely irritating shifting (clunking) i am up a creek without a paddle for a known faulty transmission. so either i pay on this car for nearly 2 more years for a yard ornament or pay out 4000 to fix it. this is a known and quite common problem. i was told it was normal and nothing was wrong... really? i have had 10 yr old cars with 200,000 miles that shifted better than this car did after 15000 miles. ridiculous....... ford knows of this problem and has refused service and replacement due to cost. they knew of this problem 4 years ago and still thousands are paying thousands of dollars to repair a faulty transmission.

While driving my 2006 ford fusion se v6 with 6 speed transmission, the transmission started slipping at 40mph in a snow storm and i almost lost control of my vehicle from the loss in power. it now randomly slips out of gear at all speeds and downshifts hard lurching the car out of the lane.
01/01/201150000
When accelerating, merging into traffic, the transmission pops out of gear and the engine will continue to accelerate while the car coasts, and slows. the transmission will eventually engage a lower gear when it has slowed down, but only if you are patient and ignore the urge to accelerate as traffic bears down on you from behind. this is terribly frightening and dangerous as the vehicles which require the most room to stop, usually travel in the same lane one is merging on to. this occurs not only on freeway entrances, but on long uphills and anytime one lets off the throttle and then tries to accelerate again quickly. a diagnostic from an auto repair shop reveals nothing. i have contacted about 30 other same model car owners who describe the same problem. the fortunate few who have been able to get to the root of the problem have said that the defect is in the valve body. most have this problem after the 50,000 mile mark. many, like myself, have had this problem for a long time. it is a matter of time before one of us gets rear ended and crash, or worse!

My 2006 ford fusion transmission started slipping at 34,000 miles. dealer said there was nothing they could do since my car was made in the first part of 2006, no additonal warranties were available. i bought the car under the assumption that there was a warranty still available. now my transmission is going out, i still owe 11,000 on my car. after talking to alot of fusion people, this appears to be a very very common problem. it's also very dangerous, the car slips out of gear revs up and then pops back into gear just as you are trying to get into a lane. very dangerous, i have almost wrecked several times and had to pull over.
11/28/201043000
2006 ford fusion failing to shift during acceleration, shifting suddenly and violently, failing to downshift and running extremely high rpm creating very dangerous conditions when passing, merging and slowing. dealer failed to resolve the issue during 3 separate repair visits 2008 to 2009. several attempts to reprogram tcm & pcm were unsuccessful. pcm replaced in 2009 but has not resolved the issue. research indicates that ford is aware of defective transmission valve body causing the issue but has not done a recall.

I own a 2006 ford fusion se with the 3.0 v6 engine. at just over 55,000 miles, vehicle would come out of gear while shifting between 30-60mph, roughly 2nd-3rd, or 3rd-4th gear. vehicle would go into a high rev and not move. after letting off gas, you have to wait 5 seconds for it to re-engage, then sometimes in a high gear at low speeds causing vehicle to shake violently. this is a very serious and dangerous mechanical flaw with this transmission! it is the aisin transmission used in a variety of ford, lincoln, and mercury vehicles. (2005-2006 ford five hundred, 2006 ford fusion, 2006 mercury zephyr, 2006 mercury milan, 2005-2006 mercury montego) there are 100's to 1000's of complaints on these and multiple tsb (technical service bulletins) through ford motor company, etc. (tsb 07-26-9, tsb 08-24-1) calling it aisin transmission harsh shifting. harsh being an easy term to describe this problem. and still no recall on this or compensation from dealer or manufacturer. if your vehicle is out of warranty, you are on your own with this $1,500 plus repair on a defective valve body according to ford motor co. this is a tremendous safety issue especially when needing to merge or accelerate rapidly to get onto a freeway system or overtake and pass on the highway! i guess it will take a serious injury or fatality to cause a law suit for anything to be done except a tsb! with all the documentation and complaints i have seen on these, i hope the manufacturers have a strong legal team! i will never buy a ford, lincoln, or mercury again. and we wonder why americans buy foreign! it is a sad day people, but the truth hurts! our us car makers need to stand behind their products better and improve their business ethics or they will continue to fail and go bankrupt.

Transmission slips in and out of gear while driving at any speed. these are very hard gear shifts and the entire car shakes. sometimes it won't go into any gear at all, including reverse. the car has unusually high rpm during some gear shifts...particularly when shifting gets stuck between 4th & 5th gears. my car was stuck in the middle of an intersection because the transmission froze and wouldn't shift gears. the car cannot accelerate at a normal speed anymore which doesn't allow for normal highway driving, and is dangerous due to the fact that the transmission is slipping gears or sticking in a gear.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 ford fusion. the contact was driving approximately 40 mph and attempted to make a right turn. the transmission exhibited a hesitation and jerk. the rpm gauge displayed an extremely low reading. the vehicle was driven to the side of the road. after waiting a few moments; the vehicle resumed at a low speed without experiencing the previous failures. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the complete brake system was replaced. the failure continued to occur. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for inspection. the failure was related to the transmission and the technician detected the that the gears were sticking. the vehicle was taken to an independent transmission shop for a second opinion where they stated the same diagnosis as mentioned by the dealer. the contact was waiting upon a response from the manufacturer regarding the transmission failure. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 61,000. the vin was unavailable. js

I own a 2006 ford fusion, when driving on the highway while trying to pass another vehicle, the car will drop out of gear. the car will not reengage until the tachometer returns to an idle. even then the car may not engage the gear again. with oncoming traffic or other cars behind this causes an unsafe condiction.

On the interstate and gave car the gas to go around a truck and the car reveed the engine and the tackometer went all the way down. let off the gas and the car was stuck in high gear and would not shift to a lower gear. had to drive the car that way in stop and go traffic inable to pull off the road. once the car was turned off and restarted it reset itself and had lower and upper gears in tranmission. the car still jerks and doesn't want to go into different gears when driving. took car to dealer shop and was told that it it had a tsb bullenton about the transmission valve body. there is a problem with this and they would not addimit to a problem with the tranmission. searching the internet i am not the only one with this problem (100's of people).

2006 frod fusion, with 65000 miles, tramission getting stuck between second and third gear. when the trasmision is stuck, the car will rev to 5-6k rmpms and drop severely in speed. when moving from a stop position the care then takes about 40-60 seconds to get up to 25mph (because it is still in second or third gear). this occured with me entering an on ramp to a freeway and driving from a stop light in a busy business district. i took the car into the dealership where the car was purchased and serviced since purchase 12/31/2005. after the frist day in the shop the dealer told me the transmission is beyond repair and i need a new (rebuilt) frod transmission. they eanted $80 frieght for delivery of transmission and approx. $4500 fro the transmission and installation. when i bought out my lease last year i purchased an extended warranty on my car (the original ended at 36000 miles). it has now been five days with many phone calls, a rental car (only covered five days under my warranty), and a visit from a private inspector/adjuster. the warranty company is still review the claim and has not yet authorized the repair. without authorization from the warranty co i can not begin repairs. it will take 2-3 days to get the transmission shipped and 2-3 days for the repair. i believe ford should be responsile and recall the tranmissions. not all owners have the extended warranty like i do. the failing transmissions are a huge saftey defect and could lead to expensive repairs, accidents and death. similar complaint can be found on repair pal at: http://repairpal.com/transmission-problem-242

My 2006 ford fusion sel v6 started violent jerking while driving. i am afraid to drive it because i have almost rear ended another car when accelerating and the jerking happened. my husband thinks it is the transmission but it is out of warranty and we don't have the money to repair it. it seems like there are many other owners out there (due to the mass forums and the tsb's) that are experiencing the same problem. ford is doing nothing about it even though there are plenty of documentations that it is an ongoing situation. it occurs everytime the vehicle is driven. i don't feel selling it to someone else is the ethical solution. for should back/stand behind there product. not run from the problem. people could be seriously hurt, in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if there aren't reported injuries.

Having transmission issuses at 50,000 and above on the 2006 ford fusion... i have researched this issue and ford has tried to brush it off as i need a brand new transmission, but i made them check their service alerts... there is an alert out on all 2006 ford fusion's with a certain issue witht the transmission and since there is an alert out on it. i was wondering why there isn't a recall on this vehical? my car is very unsafe to drive, it slips in and out of gear and it is very unsafe to drive on the highway because it will get stuck in car and very unsafe to drive on regular roads at regular speeds. as it will get stuck in lower gears as well. i do plan on getting the problem fixed because i need my car, but i also feel that i should not have to pay since ford has a known issue of this problem on this model car. what will it take? for someone to be driving on the highway and their car gets stuck in gear and cause an accident that will kill them and another person. i hope this is investigated and will help the next man,

Transmission on vehical is not good at all... there are many consumers that are having this same issue as 50,000 miles sna above. there are many complaints on the web and in forums on the 2006 ford fusions. the car will shake while driving and also it will switch gears on its own as well as the gear will get stuck. this is unsafe and very unsafe when on the highway. has had the problem fixed and the vehical had began having the same problems and much worse

03/30/201035129
I have a 2006 ford fusion that has developed a transmission problem. it has been diagnosed as a valve body defect with a service bulletin dating back to 2001. i first contacted the dealership to investigate the problem in december 2008, but the transmission department was closed (on a saturday). my mileage at that time was 35129 (well within warranty period). i wasn't able to make it back until sept. of '09 for evaluation, and they just did a software upgrade. back again with same problem in nov. '09 when they indicated the valve body from tsb dated 08/24/01. it has nearly caused me to have several accidents because at random times, the transmission pops into neutral whether on the highway, turning a corner, or accelerating - then pops back into gear, causing the car to buck violently. cars behind me have nearly rammed into my car because of this sudden failure of my transmission. i feel this should be a recall and corrected by ford corporate. this problem has occurred on several occasions. i have documented some of the more sever incidences. the latest incidences were yesterday, 3/30/10. i called the local dealership as well as ford corporate, but they say the problem is not under warranty.

I own a 2006 ford fusion and the key will not come out of the ignition. i have researched the problems on ford's forums and many, many people have had this same problem and explain that removing the silver ring on the shifter knob will fix the problem. however, i don't want to do this and have my car roll down my driveway and kill someone. *tr

I own a 2006 ford fusion 4 door sedan. upon arriving home from a short trip, i attempted to shut my car off. i shifted into what i thought was park and shut the car off. my key would not release from the ignition. i attempted to shift the car into park again and it showed it was in park. the keys still would not release from the ignition. i finally went into my home and looked online. i found online a description of the problem and a temporary solution. it seems the decorative ring around the button on the shifter keeps the button from fully disengaging. i went back out to my car and tried to shift out of park without hitting the button and was successful at which time the car was easy to roll. if the car was parked on a slope and the shifter did not fully engage in park it is possible that it could pop into neutral and roll away. i attempted to call my local dealer and was told that the service department was closed and nobody would be able to help me. this has happened 3 or 4 other times and eventually the keys came out but on this particular incident i struggled with it for most of an hour before i finally looked on the internet for the solution. *tr

Car jumping, and hesitating. it happened alot. engine light would come on. told that there was nothing wrong, and that if the gas cap or engine top wasn't on that it was cause the light to go on, and was told about the jumping of the car that the sensor needed to catch up to the engine, that is what is was suppose to do. also car switching its gear by itself then slowing down and losing power on the highway. would have to pull over put the car in park, then proceed to put it in drive then it wouldn't happen for a couple of weeks. *tr

Vehicle failed in high traffic, car jerked and when i pushed the gas i had nothing, no control. i was able to get the car safely off the road as cars swerved by. the car does not always do this. took the car to the dealer where i bought it two times, they now say i need to replace the transmission. this ford fusion 2006 has only 49,000 miles on it. it is a safety hazard, but ford or the dealer so far to date will not fix it. help! this car is a danger to my family and other drivers around me. *tr the consumer wanted to know the status of his complaint. updated 01/13/10.*jb

I drive 2006 ford fusion that has about 74k and have not had any problems with until yesterday. my gear shift was stuck and would not go into park and after i had to force it to go it to park i could not leave my keys from the ignition. now my car can not be locked and it can be knocked out of gear by just a push of a hand. i am afraid to park my call, afraid that it might roll and hurt someone. i contacted ford and they said that i would have to bring it in and that it could cost up to $400.00. i have google this issue and found that over 50 fusion owners have had the same problem. i do not have the money to get this fixed but i can't even go into a store without worrying that my car is going to roll away or someone might steal it. *tr
