The transmission is bad in the car. the 2006 ford fusion was purchased brand new and the extended warenty expired, the transmission went bad. what makes it so bad is that the car only has a little over 46000 miles. so many people have submitted complaints and i want to know what is ford going to do to correct the problem and reimburse us at least some of the money that we had to pay for the transmission.

After 3 months of purchasing my 2006 ford fusion i was experiencing transmission problems that causes my car to jerk and lock in gear. thus, prevents me from driving on the freeway and main streets. a cautious driver is not a good driver

Driving on freeway 70 mph when all of a sudden there was nothing when i pressed on the gas...felt like it was in neutral. this car was purchased on may 29,2012 for our 16 year old daughter. thank goodness i was driving the vehicle and not her. very dangerous!! we didn't know ford fusion's had transmission problems; we never would have purchased the car in the first place.

My transmission is slipping a lot. i will be accelorating my speed and all of the sudden my car acts like it is in nuetral. i have read a lot of complaints from other ford fusion owners stating the same problem. this needs to be recalled. this is very unsave. driving on the highway and then all of the sudden your transmission slips and there are cars at fast speeds traveling next to you and behind you is not safe at all.

Ac / climate control evaporator temperature sensor (eatc) fails to register set temperature causing loss of compressor operation for the purpose of defogging the windshield creating a visibility hazard, as well as the inability to cool the passenger compartment. system blows only warm / hot air, fogging the windshield and creating a visibility hazard.

I have started having problems like everyone else is discribing with my 2006 ford fusion. i have owned my car for 2 months. i get home from work & go to get out of the car & the key will not come out of the ignition. from reading the other complaints on here i figured out it has something to do with the shifter button. something is breaking on/in the shifter button & it's not allowing the car to think it has been put in park, thus not allowing the key to come out of the ignition. you have to mess with the silver shifter button & if you can find it's happy spot you will be able to get the key out. i just can't believe that ford made this car with such crappy plastic parts!! i'm starting to wish i wouldn't have bought this car. the silver is peeling off of the inside door handles also! this car is in excellent condition & has not been treated rough, so i don't know why it's starting to fall apart. ford needs to recall these issues with the 2006 ford fusion's!! i will never buy another ford vehicle after this.

I bought my 2006 ford fusion on 5/5/12. on 5/11/12 we went to get out of the car & the front passenger door would not shut. you would go to close it & it would just bounce back open. it had something to do with the door striker not aligning up. i had to take it to a ford dealership to get it fixed...$350!! the dealership i bought the car from 6 days earlier would not help us at all!! why in the world would that break on a 6yr old car!! i have a 25yr old car that has no problem opening & closing the doors!! i'm starting to see a trend with this car. everything everyone else is complaining about with these cars are slowing coming true with my car too. i'm starting to wish i would have never bought this car.

Driver side interior door latch broken. can not lock car with key fob
07/01/201274200
Please file under *latches/locks/linkages* parked vehicle. attempted to exit. driver's side. heard repeated sound of lock actuator clicking 3+ times. had to manually force handle and manual lock above handle open and unlock door with remote to exit vehicle. took approximately 3 minutes to exit vehicle. upon reentring vehicle and returning home, remote lock works occasionally with half the time the actual lock mechanism prevents door from being locked. this issue is identical to all of the other 24 posts in this category. should also be noted that all four door handles and manual locks exhibit same paint delamination of chrome-colored surfaces. vehicle purchased as cpo in 2011 at 58,000 miles. now has 74,200 mostly interstate miles. ford should address this issue as it appears through research to be pretty wide-spread on these vehicles. this would be a safety issue in event that an emergency/rapid exit is required. this would be a security issue as vehicle doesn't properly lock all the time.

First the rear driver's side interior door handle broke when my granddaughter was attempting to open it. recently the front driver's side interior door handle broke. the fake chrome is peeling off of the passenger side both front and rear door handles. it was peeling off of the two handles that broke but i never thought that they would break. although i am able to open the window to access the exterior door handle to open the door in most cases, the windows don't always open in the cold weather and the door is very difficult to open using the broken door handle. i am concerned i or a passenger will be stuck in the vehicle and not be able to get out in an emergency.

Bought the car used with approx. 45,000 miles on it from ford dealership. within a week i was back at the ford dealership i bought it at. the car would not accelerate, stuck in gear, jerk violently. they gave me a loaner car to drive, another 06 ford fusion. they told me there was nothing wrong with the car and it was the way i drive. i told them i didn't have any problems with the loaner car or any other car i've ever driven or owned. they insisted i was wrong. over the next month i brought the car back to the dealership and encountered the same resistance. the problem got progressively worse and dangerous to drive to the point where i would be going 60+ mph on a highway and the car went into neutral. the transmission completely failed in 2010, at that time i had it replaced, costing $3,000. may 31, 2012 - approx 65,000 miles. similar problems again. car would not accelerate, very hesitant, entire car shakes violently while driving. check engine like came on. i took the car to my mechanic, he tested and determined three coils went bad. looked in the car and discovered the coils had actually melted. with research, determined the computer system had failed. coils and computer system need to be replaced. approx cost (so far) - $1500.00

Car has multiple issues with hard revs of the transmission. it has caused me to have to slow because it feels like the entire car shifts so hard that it is gonna break apart. car now does not even rev. reviewed hundreds of complaints online about same problem with the 2006 ford fusion and nothing is being done. it is horrible! something needs to be done. there is no recall and even after replacing parts on the transmission or the entire transmission as hundreds have said they did, the problem still occurs shortly there after!

2006 fusion sel. 1) ignition key gets stuck in ignition. approximately 9 incidents beginning may 2009 of parking the car, turning off the motor, key cannot be removed from ignition: 3-4 times the key could not be removed for over 48 hours; 4 - 5 times within 12 hours.. car can be locked if using the second remote-control key, but will unlock all doors with in 5 seconds when lock on the inside door is pushed and door is closed. have had the alarm go off 3 times when car door is opened after car left unattended for 15+ minutes, unlocked, with key stuck in ignition, but alarm has not sounded at all times for the same scenario. 2) chrome veneer on interior front door handles wrinkling and peeling. problem was beginning to show it self when car was purchased.

I bought the car in april of 2011 and the transmission was slipping a little. i had a mechanic, which was a previous ford mechanic, told me ford had a recall on the transmission for that type of car. i then called the dealership to have them check the vin# to see if my car has the recall. the dealership said there was no recall. but as i researched it, i found out that there were other vehicles of the same make and model as mine and experiencing the same problem. i do not understand why my vehicle doesnt have any defect even though there are many others like this.

Since we've owned our 2006 ford fusion we have had to replace the door handle for the passenger and both back passenger seats multiple times. once these handles fail (randomly with no warning) they cannot be operated from the inside. this requires getting someone to open the door from the outside. we fear that in an accident we might become trapped. it's my understanding that i'm not alone with this issue with our 2006 fusion, but ford has yet to recall these obviously defective parts.

Driver side inner door handle cracked last year, making it difficult to open door. ford repaired it for $302. now the left rear inner door handle is cracked. i rarely carry passengers, so it is not due to misuse. my wife was sitting in the back seat and could not get out. also, it now appears the front passenger handle is beginning to deteriorate. i have contacted the ford dealership and ford customer service and they deny responsibility and say it is outside warranty. i believe this problem could be very dangerous.

When driving car 25 miles per hour the car stops jerks decelerates the eventually kicks back up some times it does it with normal speed . which has almost caused several accidents when car suddenly decelerates stops in the flow of traffic then having to wait till it kicks back up or just try to pull off road to keep from getting hit very scary when driving on highway of in rush hour traffic! or putting on flashers at the last minute hoping not to get hit!

I bought a 2006 ford fusion and not even a month later the inside driver side handle cracked. i cant lock my door while driving or when i'm parked and i'm afraid it's going to make it to where i can't get out in case of an emergency!

My air has quit working for the second time in 2 yrs iin my 2006 ford fusion. i took it to have it serviced the the tech said that there was nothing he could do. that he had several other ford fusions with the same problem. he said that the a/c compressor won't turn on. the a/c evaporator discharge air temperature sensor may have went bad. i would list to add this to the recall list. thank you!

Interior drivers side door handle broke preventing the ability to open the door from the inside.

My door handles have snapped and broke off...driver side and drivers back door...they are plastic with a fake chrome coating. im the only drive no kids and back seat is rarely used car has 30,000 mile issue began @ 20,000 bought car brand new

Millage and date are approximate but very close. the drivers door inside door handle broke, this failure made it impossible to open the car door from the inside. i have pictures documenting the failure which show the location of the failure. this could become very dangerous if the handle broke in a situation where an emergency exit was needed. i have called ford and registered a complaint with them about this, i have also done some research online and from talking to my local dealer i have found that this is an entirely all to common occurrence. i am just now getting around to fixing this because the door latch has now stopped working (2/13/2011, ~38.000mi), i am assuming the failure of the door latch is a direct result of the broken interior handle and letting it go without being repaired.

Right front side turn signal light failed inspection replaced bulb and electrical harness, still no power. diagnosed as defective smart box ford estimates it at $800 to replace 4 year old ford fusion (summer 2006)

Transmission failed without warning at 67,000 miles upon entering highway where exceleration is required. unable to get to speed consistent with highway traffic. automobile is ford fusion, 2006.

2006 ford fusion key will not come out of ignition; gear shift does not go into park even though it looks as though it has.
02/07/201073000
Keys cannot be removed from ignition because of defective shifter mechanism. button becomes stuck due to poorly manufactured piece and car can shift out of gear and roll away and cause injury. keys can't be removed, doors can't be locked. $400+ to fix and not covered by warranty, even though a technical service bulletin was issued regarding the part? this should be considered a recall as it is a widespread problem. a quick google search revealed hundreds of other customers with the same problem! have not repaired the problem, because like i said, it is not covered by warranty and i can't afford it. this is dangerous! i just bought this car!
