I was driving with my fiance when we heard a loud metal snapping sound with a few dinging sounds. apparently the idler pulley snapped off and bounced around causing me to lose my power steering. it was a good thing i wasn't driving to fast or it wasn't two days later as we were supposed to be driving to fort knox, because it would have been worse with it snapping off like that going 70mph. had a friend help me get it home where i found the idler pulley with the bolt snapped 3/4 of the way down and the serpentine belt with a few marks on it from where the bolt rubbed against the belt. i've done some research and found out that has been happen for awhile now with other ford fusions. some said that they had this issue fixed and it happen again. i really think to be a safety issue that ford should fix because it seems to be an issue with either the bolt, the area on the engine block where the bolt sits, or even the tension on the serpentine belt itself causing the bolt to snap off like that. *tr

Same vehicle as previous complaint (wrong year selected on previous complaint). the vehicle is a 2007 ford fusion se v6 with six speed automatic. while attempting to merge, another driver was blocking me by speeding to get alongside me while i was on a merge lane. the other driver then matched my speed. i hit the brakes because the fusion will not slow down otherwise. i then hit floored the accelerator to prevent another vehicle from closing the gap, as he was attempting to do. the car did nothing for about 3 seconds even though the accelerator was all the way to the floor. the rpm did not change, the speed did not change and i had to hold the accelerator to the floor hoping that the vehicle would respond before the next car tried to cut me off and i ran out of merge lane. do not call, i will not get any messages. *tr

My transmition was acting funny and the check engine light had come on earlier in the day but went away. i took my car to ford and was told the check engine light was from the gas cap and they couldn't get the problem with the transmition to duplicate. the car's rpm's stay up around 2000 rpm's on a cold start and the when shifting gears they will go up to around 3 and hold for a long period of time before it shifts. i drove a manual for 12 years and i know that this should not happen with an automatic transmition. i showed the dealer the tsb concerning the rpm issue but they didn't care. i started researching the issue online and have found this is a growing problem. i just wonder how many people haven't made their voices heard or haven't experienced the issue yet. ford needs to fix this problem with the transmition before it gets some killed.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - ENGINE

When backing up hill into a parking spot, the car does not obey the commands of the driver. since there is an excessive delay in the throttle, i end up releasing the accelerator completely when i need to slow down because the car does not slow down right away. the car then goes into a hold mode where it prevents the car from rolling forward. once it is in that mode, it does not respond to the accelerator pedal until about one second after the pedal has reached a level where the rpm of the engine would increase significantly beyond the holding rpm. due to the delay and lack of response during the first part of the pedal travel, the accelerator is down too far when the car finally releases the hold on the throttle and the car goes backward at a much higher rate of speed than desired. the only way i can back up hill safely is to apply the brakes fully with my left foot on the brake pedal, rev the engine up with my right foot on the accelerator pedal and control the speed of the vehicle by partially releasing brake pedal with my left foot while holding the accelerator pedal steady with my right foot. the brakes don't have a delay to them. the vehicle is a 2007 ford fusion se 3.0 liter v6 with 6 speed automatic transmission.

When driving up a steep hill and rounding a corner, the speed limit dropped from 55 to 45mph. i tapped the brake to disengage the curse control and attempted to control the speed manually. i was not able to get the car to do 45. it oscillated between 50 and 40mph. i finally hit the set button on the cruise control as the speedometer passed 40m. the distraction of trying to control the vehicle could have lead to an accident since i was not able to devote my full attention to the road ahead of me. the vehicle is a 2007 ford fusion se, v6 with 6 speed automatic transmission. *tr

When accelerating from 30 mph to 55 mph with the accelerator pedal to the floor, i released the accelerator at about 50 mph. the car continued at full throttle for about 5 more seconds while i moved my foot to the brake and began to attempt to slow the vehicle. the vehicle overshot the intended speed by about 20 mph before it began to slow down to the intended speed of 55 mph. this could have caused a rear end collision if there had been other traffic on the freeway bides the truck tailgating me when i was doing 30 mph. the vehicle is a 2007 ford fusion se, v6 with automatic transmission. *tr

When traveling at about 35 mph with a ford fusion se, v6 and automatic transmission, the engine stalls on hard braking, requiring the vehicle to be brought to a complete stop in the middle of traffic, shifted to park and restarted. since i was making a lane change before i realized that the engine had stalled, i was across both lanes while i was in park starting the engine. this could have lead to accident, either by not having power to maneuver or another car could have hit my vehicle while it blocked both lanes. the air temperature was just below 10 degrees, but the engine was warm. on restart, the engine idled at 1500 rpm, which makes stopping the vehicle difficult since the engine fights the brakes. *tr
