Se v6 transmission. when pulling into a driveway to get rid of a tailgater in the city, i brought the car to a complete stop, then shifted the car into reverse after the other car had passed. i took my foot off the brake and put it on the accelerator, but got no response from the vehicle. i thought it had obeyed my command and shifted into reverse before i released the brake. the vehicle rolled backwards for about three seconds before the transmission actually shifted into reverse. this resulted in a loud bang since the car was already moving backwards at a couple miles per hour. this could have resulted in transmission damage. *tr

I purchased this car used approximately a month ago. while driving at lower speeds, around 30-40 mph the transmission will not shift out properly. gears get stuck at 40 mph and car will not accelerate in traffic. this is an extreme safety hazard and liability. engine light has not come on for this issue either. ford needs to recall these vehicles and replace the transmissions before a death occurs and/or major lawsuits filed. *tr

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 ford fusion. while driving approximately 30 mph, the transmission began to shift gears violently with hesitation. the vehicle was maneuvered into a parking lot. the vehicle was then driven to the residence cautiously at the reduced speed rate of 5 mph. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the transmission was replaced. there was a technical service bulletin under nhtsa item number 10023866 (power train:automatic transmission:control module tcm, pcm). the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 59,570. kmj

I was driving using cruise control today going 60 mph on a highway with my 2007 ford fusion. all of a sudden, i felt the car jolt. i pressed the gas, but nothing happened as if the car was in neutral. i had to coast to the side of the road. i noticed that the warning light in the shape of a wrench was on. i turned off the car. when i turned it back on, the light was off and the car worked just fine. i looked up the description of the light in the owner's manual and it said it was related to a fault in the powertrain or throttle. i saw where several people have reported this exact problem with 2010 models of the fusion. i just had to report that it happened on my 2007 model as well. i will be taking it in to get looked at. this is very dangerous. i could have wrecked or caused an accident because i could not control the speed of my car at the time. someone will be killed if this problem is not resolved and a recall issued. i was really scared. there needs to be a recall. i will not be using cruise control until i am confident that my car is completely fixed.

My transmition was acting funny and the check engine light had come on earlier in the day but went away. i took my car to ford and was told the check engine light was from the gas cap and they couldn't get the problem with the transmition to duplicate. the car's rpm's stay up around 2000 rpm's on a cold start and the when shifting gears they will go up to around 3 and hold for a long period of time before it shifts. i drove a manual for 12 years and i know that this should not happen with an automatic transmition. i showed the dealer the tsb concerning the rpm issue but they didn't care. i started researching the issue online and have found this is a growing problem. i just wonder how many people haven't made their voices heard or haven't experienced the issue yet. ford needs to fix this problem with the transmition before it gets some killed.

At approx. 85k miles on my 2007 ford fusion, there was a noticable issue in the front end. thought it may have been some slight damage to the front a end a while back and had a half axle replaced at 88k miles. no change since and have had many components looked at. today, ford tells me there are several codes in the computer related to transmission problems. no indicator light has ever come on to let me know i have been driving with a bad transmission. many people on the ford fusion forum (fordfusion.net) had reported the same issue in models from 2006 through 2010. ford bares responsability for this issue and have swept it under the rug. letting people drive around with a bad transmission, the computer never letting people know an issue exists is erious problem and safety issue.. last time i ever buy american.

Drive shaft carrier bearings went out. common problem with this type of vehicle. have to replace drive shaft entirely! cost of about 900 dollars

The vehicle response to the accelerator is unpredictable and always delayed. sometimes the car will interpret a small quick depression of the accelerator the same as flooring the accelerator. there is always a delay of two to three seconds before it responds at all. the same action can result in widely varying responses of the engine and transmission, apparently depending on the temperature of the air and engine. the accelerator is very touchy and seems to use only a small portion of the movement. that coupled with the transmission constantly shifting to set the engine speed at near idle in all but freeway driving makes manually controlling the speed within 5 miles per hour when near a shift point almost impossible. the constant shifting and refusal to slow down when the accelerator is released makes it impossible to manually control the speed of the vehicle accurately on hilly roads. this is a continuous problem, not a one day event. *tr

I have an 07 ford fusion, i am the original owner and bought the car with zero miles in 06. recently my transmission started slipping and i noticed that the rpm's go up so high then you feel like an impact which is when the car changes gears. i almost got rear-ended due to this problem. after doing some research online i have noticed that many ford owners have the same problem. i have called ford and they say my car is out of warrenty so their is nothing they could do. i also think this problem is causing my back to hurt i noticed that after this accurs with my car i get pain in my back like if it was whip lash.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 ford fusion. the contact stated while driving, the vehicle exhibited an abnormal popping noise as the transmission began shifting hard, causing an unusual increase in engine rpms. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. later, the contact was driving under 40 mph when the vehicle would not shift between gears. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who informed the contact that the transmission would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the current mileage was 91,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.

On october 1, 2010 i was driving my 2007 ford fusion that i bought new in november 2007. when i came to a stop sign and tried to take off the transmission light and the wrench light came on. from then on the these lights always appear while driving. also, the messenging center reads odometer data error and the speedometer is no long functioning properly. the car do not shift properly. the rpm was very high every time that the car try to change gears. i took the car to the dealership were i purchased it on numerous occasions before this happened because the car would stale when taken off and sometimes it would just shut down. every time i took it back i was told that there weren't anything wrong with the car. now that the warranty is expired i was then told that the transmission speed sensor and the main wire component needed to be replaced.

Took 2007 ford fusion in under warranty three times stating it was shifting hard, rpms were high and that felt there was a problem with the transmission. after bein dismissed each time the warranty lapsed and the car lost the transmission in the middle of the freeway. as this was a reported problem on my service records, tried to get ford to cover their product and show customer loyalty with no avail. lucky to be able to get out of the middle of the freeway when the car had no acceleration or power behind it. started taking vehicle in june 2009, then dec 2009 and lastly in feb 2010. after being dismissed 3 times i continued normal driving conditions since the car was deamed to be normal now it does not have 2nd or 4th gear.

While traveling from canyon to norris in yellowstone national park, i attempted to control the speed of the vehicle manually while climbing a steep hill, but found it impossible. the desired speed was 45, which is the maximum speed in yellowstone. the throttle has a delay of about one second, so it is continually 1 second behind the commands of the driver. the result is that the vehicle always overshoots the speed because the driver first expects a response from the vehicle, but gets none and continues to push the accelerator pedal farther down. when the vehicle reaches the desired speed, the driver lets up on the accelerator, but the vehicle continues to accelerate according to the command 1 second ago. the driver then continues to let up on the pedal because the vehicle has not yet responded to the command to reduce rpm. the transmission shifts up when the driver lets off the accelerator. the vehicle then undershoots the desired speed and the driver pushes the accelerator down again. the vehicle again delays its response and the transmission adds an additional delay of about 2 seconds. the next overshoot is worse. this oscillation continues until the driver gets frustrated and sets the speed control. the speed control still fails to maintain speed when the grade changes rapidly, but the slow down is much less and it recovers in a couple seconds and maintains speed the rest of the way up the hill. the driver then has to ride the brakes on the way down the other side of the hill in order to maintain speed, which releases the speed control. the driver then has to set the speed control when the vehicle reaches the level again. if the driver lets the vehicle continue to accelerate down the hill, the transmission will eventually downshift at about 48 miles per hour, but continues to slowly accelerate. continually trying to correct for the lack of control of speed results in an excessive distraction and continually takes the eyes of the driver off the road.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 ford fusion. while driving approximately 30 mph she engaged the brake pedal and the vehicle began to accelerate and lunge forward. when she applied pressure to the brakes, the vehicle stopped; yet, when she released the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated. she stated that this was an on going failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they installed a device to capture the failure. the dealer replaced the throttle body but she stated that she was still experiencing the failure. the vehicle was being repaired when the complaint was filed. the manufacturer and the dealer do not know how to solve the failure. she also stated that for the past year when the vehicle was shifted into park the rpms increased up to 4000-5000. the failure mileage was 22,212 and the current mileage was 35,800.

Unable to remove key from ignition. shift lever button will not fully extend to allow the selector to go into proper position so that the key can be moved. i have pushed and let it snap back out and have been able to get it out once or twice but now stays in most of the time. this has just started on this 2007 fusion with in last 7 days.

I bought my 2007 fusion at end of march. since then i have noticed on a daily basis that when i am at a complete stop and try to start the accelerator is very touchy. i peel out almost 75 percent of the time. the gas pedal shouldn't be that hesitant or touchy. i am afraid to change my own oil which i have done all my life. i am afraid of driving right off the ramps. i am very afraid of merging into traffic at stop signs. especially this next year for the winter season. i had a few instances at the end of the snow season i couldn't even get going in my own driveway because of the over power. i would just spin out with the instant over acceleration. also at stop signs that were snow covered. (that has never happened with any other vehicles i have owned.) also the acceleration of trying to pass someone there is a major hesitation to switching from overdrive to drive and back again. *tr

I have a 2007 ford fusion se awd which i purchased new from ford. the problem started with he transfer case which went and had to be replaced because it was out of the 3 year 36k warranty. the next problem is the the drive shaft now has to be replaced. i was told by the dealer that the sealed bearing are gone. i have never heard of a drive shaft failure but as i search the internet i see that both the transfer case and drive shaft appear to be an inherent problem with all of the awd fusions.

I own 2007 fusion se that has a vibration in front-end of vehicle when you accelerate quickly or wet pavement and the right front wheel grabs intermittently and on dry pavement it pulls extremely to the right and some timesone can lose control of vehicle if you aren't expecting this action to happen. *tr

POWER TRAIN - MANUAL TRANSMISSION
01/09/200915000
2007 ford fusion 4 cylinder, manual transmission. extremely difficult to control in winter weather. i have driven other manual transmissions on snow and ice with no problems. this car is terrible. i lost control once traveling about 20 mph and did $2000 front end damage. suddenly, the front went slightly left and the rear went to the right as i spun around, hit a mailbox post and barely missed a telephone pole. otherwise i like the car except for the noisy 4 cylinder engine (over 60 mph).
