This is a report for a ford fusion with 45000 miles. first event occurred on freeway driving 65 mph. car just stopped accelerating and wrench light came on but i was able to pull over to shoulder and call aaa. when they arrived i turned off car and turned car back on and car reset itself to normal operation. i garaged the car for several weeks and tried to research problem but nothing confirmed. i drove again a couple of weeks later (again 50 mph) on highway and same behavior and made it to shoulder. turned car off and on to reset. this is extremely dangerous and life threatening (may get rearended or not have ability to pull over...) got car to bickford ford service. they said they have one other 2011 ford fusion with same issue (numerous reports of this on internet but as of yet no recall) other car was covered under emission warranty to replace throttle cable because that car was from california. mine is not. $460 later... save receipt and hope this issue is listed as recall for reimbursement. this is a real safety issue!!!!

I was traveling down a busy road during morning rush hour and out of no where the car wouldn't move. as i pushed the gas peddle it wouldn't go and the wrench light on the dash came on. i almost was hit from the car behind me. i then put my flashers on and went to the side of the road. i turned the car off and started it up again and the wrench light went off and ran ok. i ran the vehicle report from the microsoft sync on the car and no warnings came up. while coming home it did the same thing again during evening rush hour traffic nearly getting hit from behind again. i pulled to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off and started it up again. it ran for another 9 miles and did the exact same thing again. while driving to the dealership it did this two more times. i just got a phone call from them saying it was the throttle body. after going online and reading other people having the exact same issue and about being involved in accidents themselves not really sure why this hasn't been recalled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank god someone was looking out for me yesterday because the roads were slick and it was snowing really hard. now i have to pay $388.00 to have something fixed that should've been recalled in the first place.

On a few separate occassions, while either sitting in traffic at a light or driving my 2011 ford fusion has stalled in the middle of traffic. it hasn't happened for a few months and there is no ryhme or reason to when it will happen. when the stalling occurs the car literally shuts down in the middle of traffic and i have to restart the car to proceed.

Car was hesitating and shifting roughly. ford dealership performed tsb 11-9-9 to reset power control module. on 10/19/12 car died with no warning while driving my son to school. part #ds7z 9e926 a throttle body was replaced. on 11/12/12 took car in because it was still shifting rough and hesitating. ford couldn't verify my concern and had no codes so they did nothing. on 02/07/13 my car died again while driving down the road. ford replaced part #ds7z 9e926 a throttle body again. the car is still shifting rough and not right. ford needs to address the concern immediately before someone gets killed. it is terrifying to be driving and to lose all power and acceleration.

While entering interstate 275 south on ramp in tampa, fl my car abruptly stopped responding to the gas pedal and the little wrench light came on. all i could do is coast to a stop on the side of the road. once my speed slowed to around 5 to 10 miles per hour, the car began to jerk and shake. i put it in park, turned it off and restarted the engine, and it worked like normal for about another month or so until it happened again while i was turning right on red on a major 5 line street. since then it has happened at least 20 times and has become increasingly more frequent. after a little research on the web, it seems hundreds of people are describing the exact same problem. i mean exactly in every way except for the speeds and locations. the oldest model that i recall seeing this problem described about online is a 2010 with only 15000 miles on it. this is a potentially very dangerous issue, that in my opinion, needs to be fixed. when i was making that right turn, the car just stopped in the middle of the road and i had to quickly restart the engine and floor it to avoid causing an accident.

While driving my 2011 fusion on the road at 55 mph, the engine suddently quit and the wrench light came on. the slowdown was fast, and i could have been hit from behind very easily, but i lucked out because the person behind me took notice of my drastic drop in speed. i coasted off to the side of the road, turned off the car, waited a few moments and then restarted the engine. fortunately i got home ok, so i thought is was maybe a fluke occurrence. when i left for work the next morning, the same thing happened as i was driving; same road, same speed, same wrench light, etc. when i got the car restarted, i took it to the local ford dealer. they thought they had fixed the problem with a relay switch(?), but once again, the engine quit while i was driving back to work that same morning. this time more than the wrench light lit up. i went through the restart routine again, but this time it was not a very smooth start - i did not think it was going to start, but it did, and i took it back to the dealership again where they are currently trying to figure out what the problem is. this is a considerable safety hazard to anyone traveling with me and/or driving my car, and an unsafe environment for those driving near me. my car has been at the dealership most of the day now, and no word on the problem or rectification thereof. i am extremely concerned and very worried this issue will mushroom.

Driving a 2011 ford fusion sel awd 3.0l 6-cyl traveling approx. 65mph on interstate 88, vehicle shuddered, wrench light lit and no throttle control. no power. i nearly was rear ended due to significant speed reduction. re-cycle of the engine causes the light to go out and you can continue on your drive. an identical event (set of symptoms) happened in traffic two weeks earlier at approx 20mph after leaving a stop light. i experienced a loss of all power in traffic causing my car to nearly be struck. when recycling the engine, the code that causes the wrench light to come on is re-set and ford is unable to detect the error and refuses to correct the problem. there is significant evidence on the internet that these symptoms are pointing to a failure in the throttle body (electronic throttle control). i feel that this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately by ford who needs to diagnose by symptom as well as by code. their software does not preserve a safety critical code across vehicle re-starts which is a major issue in my opinion. ford warrantee does not want to recognize the issue or replace the throttle body without a code being captured but their software is not designed to preserve the code (catch 22).

Lost rpms while driving on highway at 65mph. unable to continue driving, car was only able to crawl at about 3mph. required throttle body replacement.

Without warning the vehicle began shaking losing power. seconds later it would not accelerate. i had to stop in the middle of a busy intersection, put the car in park, and restart it. this resolved the issue temporarily but caused a very dangerous situation. it has happened again and the mechanic's thought is that it is a problem with the throttle body and it needs to be replaced. the vehicle is 2,000 miles past the maufacturers warranty. such an unsafe situation is terrifying and frustrating, as the vehicle has under 40,000 miles on it. please issue a mandatory recall!!!!

My sister was driving my 2011 ford fusion to go out of town , when getting back into town, she pulled into macdonalds, put shift in park. while sitting in car, we were taking food orders from passengers, one in front passenger side of car and one in back passenger side. we, my sister who was driving and i who own the car, got out of autombile , we went into macdonalds stood in line, when we got up to the counter to order, someone yelled that car is rolling backwards and the car rolled backwards into the side of a white truck, damanging the passenger side door on the truck, no damage on ford fusion. the car was running as to leave the air conditioner on because it was so hot out. i was in the resturant and not even near the ford fusion at the time of roll back. i have been driving for over 53 years and know when a car is in gear, this ford fusion jumped out of gear somehow, it was in gear. even where it was parked was on a small incline. when taking the ford fusion to ford dealers, i was told that it could'nt have jumped out of gear, it had to have not been in park. now remember this car was running with the air on, didn't roll back when we were taking orders for food, and then we stood in line in the resturant befor the car rolled backwards. this was reported as an accident on my sister's insurance, how can this be , how do they know i wasn't going to drive my car the rest of the way home,we were only 1 mile from home. and besides the car didn't even roll back for aproxmontey 6 minutes. this has to be reported as so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Today was the fourth time my accelerator failed to work on my car. it has happened on the highway doing 65 and at low speeds. the dealer tells me it is the throttle body and that they are familiar with the problem. they also tell me it will happen again. ford motor refuses to fix the problem under warranty until the dealer can reproduce this intermittent problem or its computer systems confirms a problem. neither could be done when i took the car to the dealer for repair. the internet demonstrates others with this exact same problem. i am worried that this problem will reoccur in an inopportune time causing an accident and injury. when it occurs, the accelerator stops working, but the engine is still running. a wrench light appears on the dash. i am able to coast to a stop, but must put the car in park and restart the car for the problem to temporarily resolve. ford seems to be aware that this problem exists, but is refusing to make the warranty repair.

There is a problem with the door locks. one two occasions the drivers door lock has failed to engage in cold weather (approx 30 degrees). once i was outside the car, the keyless entry would not unlock the door, and i tried the physical key. i was able to very slowly turn it to get in. however, the second time this happened i was *inside* the car and could not get out. the electronic lock switch would fail (though i did hear it trying to work), and the manual lever was loose and would not unlock the door. after several minutes of trying the electronic lock, the door finally opened. the dealer said they could do nothing because they could not duplicate the problem. the car was under warranty and i think the door (or all the doors) should be replaced since this is a life and safety issue. this issue was nearly identical to complaint #10326963

Transmission slams into third gear first time you drive it each day. does not matter if it is morning, afternoon or night. this has been an issue from the first day i bought the car. i took it back to the dealership i bought it and was told to drive it... it would work it's way out. i have had it in 6 times since... last time they told me there was nothing they could do until ford came out with a new fix. ford has already had two updates that do not work. i have filed a lemon law with ford... and have the bbb information to file out as well. i was supposed to hear back today, but did not... i called 3x's left a message twice.

Letter sent oct. 2011. customer unhappiness department ford motor company p.o. box 6248 dearborn mi 48126 gentlemen and/or ladies: i have owned a ford (fusion se) for several months and every time i take it out of the garage to drive i am afraid. i am afraid because as soon as i leave the garage i have trouble seeing the red needle that should be telling me how fast i am going. in the garage, i see the speedometer needle easily. the few times i have driven at night (at age 90, i try to avoid night driving) i could see it quite well. but in any daylight the big needle tends to disappear, and on bright sunlit days i usually cannot see it at all in the fraction of a second i take my eyes off the road to look down at the dashboard. curiously, the smaller needle on the right that tells me the temperature of the radiator fluid shows up better than the -- much more important -- large needle that should tell me the speed. the order writer at my dealer says there is nothing they can do except turn up the dial that controls brightness of the needles which have, he says, lights inside them. i had already done that. in my judgment, a white needle would show up better than the red one. can anything be done to make my driving safer? do i need to trade for another make of car so i can feel safe when i drive? ******* their reply said, in effect, tough luck kid; we can't afford to solve all problems.

Had to have flat tire repaired. when technicians tried to place wheel on 2011 fusion two (2) of the wheel bolts twisted and would not hold at the required torque level. had to replace two of the five wheel bolts. took car to ford dealer to have all wheel bolts replaced. their response was that they could not find anything wrong with bolts, had no technical bulletins, safety issues, recalls, etc. and would not even repay for the two bots that were deformed. the two deformed bolts were given to the ford service department. i gave them evidence of the problem, complete description, repair shop that found the problem, ( whom i have used for over 30 years), and got the answer, if it happens again bring it back. i hope when i bring it back it is not after an accident where someone is injured.if you have questions, please contact my father, kenneth seal.

I was traveling about 35 to 40mph when the car starting acting up. anytime i had to slow down and then speed up the rpm would not shift, when it did shift it would jerk the car forward. i also have been having an issue where i would step on the gas and it would act as if it was in neutral. this continues to happen and i fear that one of these times i will be in an accident with my kids in the car. these are all transmission issues, i have brought it in twice now first time they did the tsb which was to reset the pcm and my ac wasn't and still is not working. resetting the pcm did not work so now back in the shop it sits. this car is only 4 months old and already has safety issues being the transmission. there needs to be a recall before there are deaths.
