Failure to fix in a reasonable time: in september of 2007 i received a recall notice 05s28 from ford motor company regarding a defect which relates to 1992-2004 motor homes equipped with speed control. the letter stated i need to contact 1-800-44-3311 to locate a dealer in my area that could and would correct the problem. i followed there instruction to call the local dealer in livermore ca 925-294-7700. i was told by the dealership that the parts required to fix the problem were back ordered from ford manufacturing. and to call back in october. in october 2007 i received another letter from ford motor company concerning the same recall notice 05s28. again stating the issue. ford cannot be confident that over many years in service, the type of speed control deactivation switch (scds) equipped on your vehicle will not leak, posing the risk of an underhood fire. the condition may occur either when the vehicle is parked or when it is being operated, even if the speed control is not in use. i again called the local dealer and was told the parts were back ordered. and they won't even take your name, they just me to call back in jan. 08. i put it in my calendar and called jan. 02, 2008 and was told parts ore back ordered and to call back in april. he told me there are about a million affected units and ford is saying to have the speed control disconnected until they can get the parts. this to me is not a solution. *tr
