Defect Summary | Vehicle description: passenger vehicles equipped with manual transmissions. if a vehicle is parked with the parking brake not fully applied and not in first gear, as directed in the owner guide, and the self adjustment pawl subsequently skips one or two teeth, the vehicle could move on some grades. | |||||||||||||||
Consequence Summary | This could result in unintended vehicle movement and a vehicle crash without prior warning. | |||||||||||||||
Corrective Summary | Dealers will modify the parking brake control and install a plate or over-bracket to the control to lock the self adjust mechanism in position following adjustment. | |||||||||||||||

3 separate problems: front disk rotors have warped twice and had to be reground. a/c compressor bearings froze causing drive belt to emit acrid smoke that filled the passenger compartment (happened on original and again on replacement). temp gauge showed fluctuating temperature until bearings froze completely (happened with 2 different compressors). parking brake released causing car to roll into neighbors vehicle, causing damage (parking brake handle was in the up position with no tension felt when the parking brake was moved to the down position.) | |||
