This has happened before about a year ago. the car accelerates on its own. i can take my foot off the gas and it goes by itself--no cruise is not broken or on --that was test. rpm then jump up to about 4000. this is a serious safety issue ford needs to take care of before someone gets killed. *tr

Traveling to temple, texas to visit mom for her birthday; i set my cruise at 70 mph as usual while traveling. i approached a slow moving vehicle, slowed down to make sure there was no one coming, turned my signal on and touched the gas pedal to increase speed. when i passed the vehicle and got back in my lane, my car continued to gain speed and was quickly up to 85 mph and increasing. i touched the brakes to slow it down and they would not hold or slow down the vehicle.i was terrified knowing there are a lot of curves on that particular road and possibly no way to avoid hitting someone. i looked for the safest place to pull over and saw an empty church parking lot and hoped i could get the car stopped in that area. by this time, i was applying the brakes as hard as i could, i managed to get it there but not before hitting a historical marker and snapping it off at the bottom. the impact seemed to slow me a little bit and i guided it between two big trees and managed to get the speed down to about 40 mph, slammed the gear shift in park while the engine was still racing and turned the key off. i waited about 5 or ten minutes and started the car and the engine was still racing at a very high rate of speed. i tried to start it again in a few minutes and the engine was still racing; i turned it off, called someone to come get me and called a wrecker to pick up the car. this was the most terrifying experience i had ever had in my 46 years of being licensed to drive a vehicle! *tr

My wife was pulling into a parking space--i was in the car as well. about half way into the parking spot, the engine suddenly began reving and the car jumped forward causing a head on collision with the truck in front of us.

Driving my 2006 automatic transmission mustang scs on the freeway and accelerated to pass a car when the throttle went to the floor and became stuck. i had intended to accelerate from about 65 to 70. i tried to brake and this prevented me from speeding up past 85 but did not stop the car or even slow it down. the throttle was completely stuck. this lasted for about 12 - 15 seconds and then released on its own. floor mats were not in the way at all; the first thing i checked. plus, i'd been driving perfectly fine up to that point and did not in any way shirt the mats around while driving. there are a lot of posts about this if you google 2006 mustang accelerator stuck. i hope that ford will finally be accountable.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 ford mustang. while driving less than 5 mph on a gravel road surface, the contact attempted to park the vehicle. the brakes were engaged, and the engine revved excessively high with an unintended acceleration causing the tires to spin. the vehicle would not slow down and the gear selector was shifted into park. the acceleration failure continued. the vehicle came to a complete stop when the engine was turned off. the contact waited a few moments and resumed operation. during the travel the speed rate increased to 100 mph unexpectedly. the vehicle slowed down after repeated application to the brakes. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis where no trouble codes were detected. the technician was unable to duplicate the problem. the contact had significant concern pertaining to the safety defect and feared driving the vehicle. the failure mileage was approximately 51,000. js

The gas pedal on my 2006 ford mustang got stuck as i was pulling into a parking lot, causing me to hit 2 other parked cars. i applied the brakes but the car kept going forward and then suddenly stopped. this caused the wind to get knocked out of me. the damage to my vehicle consisted of the driver side fender, turn signal, headlamp, bumper and hood. damage to the other vehicles was to their respective rear bumpers. i had the car towed to the dealer where i purchased it to have them look at the problem and was told that nothing was found and that i'd be responsible for the charges! *tr

My daughter's 2006 ford mustang accelerator stuck this afternoon and almost caused her to hit a vehicle in front of her. while starting to pass another vehicle on a two lane highway she noticed oncoming traffic and was attempting to end the passing maneuver when the engine accelerator stuck wide open. the pedal itself had complete freedom of movement and no matter what she tried to do to get it unstuck the accelerator remained at full throttle. full brakes were unable to slow the cars speed. the throttle finally released after about 10-15 seconds of full acceleration and she was able to stop the car before hitting any other vehicle on the highway. i have call a local ford dealership, nevada ford at (417)667-3385 or (800)999-3368 and asked the service manager about any safety recalls or information on this type of problem. he told me that he had not heard of any complaints on this issue from ford. i just did a quick search on line and found several complaints about sticking accelerators on ford mustangs. she bought this car used from miler-quinn in harrisionville missouri about february or march of this year and has not had any problems with it until this. now i believe there may have been an issue with the original owner due to the low price my daughter was able to purchase the car for, $10,500. it booked for $14,500 at the time of purchase from a dealership. please contact either myself or my daughter on this issue. *tr

When at a complete stop, my foot on the brake and transmission in neutral, the engine revs up to 3500 rpm and rises from there. in order to stop it, i have to turn the ignition off. i took it to the dealer 3 different times. the first time they replaced the throttle body unit. two weeks later it happened again. ford said there is no codes in the system and they can't recreate the situation to verify. they also said that i might be touching the gas pedal and brake at the same time. the next time it happened i had a passenger verify that my feet and the floor mat was completely away from the gas pedal as the engine revved over 3500 rpm. the car operated normally for the last 4 months until this past week when it happened again. it's occurred around 20 times with 3 of them during driving where the car started to accelerate on it's own. ford has said they can't do anything until a code shows up or a part actually breaks. hopefully, i won't have an accident by that time. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 ford mustang. while driving approximately 10 mph on wet road conditions, the vehicle came to a stop sign and then proceeded to accelerate. suddenly, the contact heard water coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle. the contact pulled over to the side of the road and the driver observed that the passenger floor panel area and the glove compartment exhibited water leakage. the vehicle resumed normal operation to his residence. the following day, the engine failed to start. the vehicle was towed to the authorized dealer for diagnostic testing and they stated that the failure was contributed to an electrical shortage in the junction box. the technician stated that this was a manufacturer design flaw with the drainage. a fan was used to dry out the junction box; however, the electrical failures still persist. the exterior components that were inoperative consist of: taillights, parking lights, emergency brake lights, turn signals, rear back up lights, and the low beams. the vin was unknown. the failure and current mileages were 52,000.

While accelerating/pressing gas pedal from a full stop after driving approximately 25+ minutes, vehicle has hesitated and then surged forward as if it lost power or gas but never completely stalled. since purchasing the vehicle in july 2006, this problem has occurred 15+ times as i began documenting it. dealer has been unable to duplicate the problem, nor has anything shown up on the car?s computer. next question is if they place a black box on the vehicle. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 ford mustang. the contact was parking the vehicle with one foot on the clutch and the other on the brake pedal. the tires began to screech and the vehicle unexpectedly surged forward and struck the vehicle in front of it. the contact noticed that the gear was in neutral and the brake and clutch pedals were still depressed. she was certain that she did not depress the accelerator pedal. the air bag deployed and both vehicles were towed. the dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure. the contact was injured and a police report was filed. the speed was unknown. the current and failure mileages were 15,000. to date the dealer has not determined the cause. updated 08/29/07.*jb

Took delivery of mustang premium convertible (v6) on 1/6/2006. drove home 17 miles. while accelerating from a full stop and turning onto side street, the engine appeared to accelerate and then stopped in the middle of the turn in the middle of oncoming traffic. fortunately no accident occurred. during subsequent drives, engine appears to accelerate from a full stop but then stalls. if accelerator is pressed quickly enough, the engine does not stop; however, it may exhibit the stall a second time. dealer indicates that no information is recorded on computer indicating reason for failure. they cannot duplicate the failure. next step is to install a black box to record event activity during the stall. this does not occur when the engine is cold. it also is very intermittent but, if it is going to happen, it will be following a full stop. i do not feel safe in this vehicle. the failure can occur during a turn across traffic or while moving straight ahead from the stop - either of which could result in an accident. *jb

2006 ford mustang exhibiting hesitation upon acceleration on four different occasions while pulling out into traffic. feels as if car has stalled then sling shots car into traffic. each incident nearly resulting in accidents. dealership can't duplicate problem and therefore can't make any repairs to car. no sensor errors or messages when checked, but obviously there is a malfunction with electronic &/or sensors from gas pedal to engine. *jb
