| (1) the windshield wipers will turn on by themselves while i am driving the vehicle when i have not activated them. i may be traveling at 20 to 65 mph, sitting at a stop light, or turning at an intersection or corner, and the wipers just come on by themselves. (2) this event has occurred 2 - 3 times per week since 2007 and the consequence is that both wipers scrape across a dry windshield leaving tracks on the windshield. as i only have approximately 100,000 miles on the vehicle, these incidents began when i only had approximately 75,000 to 80,000 miles on it. (3) to stop the wipers, i pull over to the side of the road, turn off the engine and than restart the vehicle--this does not always work. the other is to put the wipers on fast speed for a couple of seconds and turn the wipers off. and this solution does not always work. at times during rain, when i first turn the wipers on, they will not turn on at all. i turn the wiper knob off and than put on high speed than back the speed down to get them working. a professional repair has not been made up to this date as i would like to know if this is a manufacturer's defect. *tr | |||

| After putting the vehicle into four wheel drive, the vehicle suddenly stopped. when this happened, the vehicle flipped and ended up on its side. contacted dealer, and dealer not willing to do anything.*ak the dealer could not find the cause that made the four wheel drive to thump and lock up, dealer replaced the right and left hubs and the seals. the vehicle also had its heating system fixed twice. the rear brake parts also fell apart and were replaced. one person was injured in accident mentioned. *yh | |||

| First off there has been no failure as yet. i couldn't get this far without saying there was. i just want to know what about the tires i have is any different than the ones being recalled? i still don't hear why they are failing. if as i suspect that it is the glue is there a different glue used on 16? i'm curious too about whether the tire is responsible for the feeling that the vehicle could roll very easily. i've noticed in a couple of circumstances of quick braking to avoid an accident that the vehicle like the center of gravity is somewhere above the top of the cab. this is not in a situation where the vehicle is sliding side ways either. it just feels like it could very easily flip over. i see no apparent flaws in the tires at this point and they seem to be wearing as well as any other tire on the market. they just don't feel right and didn't prior to the recall action. this is a fyi from me to you and at this point i hold little if any hope of these being recalled. what is your advice for me? thanks for your time. *ak (tiresize: p245/75r16)( dot number: tire size: p245/75r16 ) | |||

| The windshield has had two rock chips in the first two months of ownership. this contrasts with my last pickup that had no chips in 12 years of use. i have talked with other ranger owners with same problem. glass company employees tell me this is due to light weight glass used. | |||

| 1999 ford ranger xlt, the problem is your driving along and the windshield wipers start working complete on there own, work about 3 to 4 minutes then it goes off. this happens all the time while you are driving the truck. ive tried to turn them off by the control switch but it does nothing. thats also the handle that the turning singles lights are on, have seen to be working okay at this time. called russ dean ford about the repair, the dealer said there was a program to replace the switch but not a recall about replacing the switch. he said that i can pay $150 to $200 to have it fixed and if there was a recall ford would pay me back. but that doesnt help with the problem at this time. researched the internet under ford motor credit service bulletins for 1999 ford truck ranger 4wd this information technical service bulletins or recalls number: 00-9-6, issue date: may 2000, tsb title: front wipers operate while switch is in off position. *ak | |||
