Tl-the contact owns a 2005 ford taurus. the contact stated that while driving uphill at 65 mph, the vehicle had suddenly accelerated and did not stop while the brakes were depressed. the contact shifted into neutral and that was followed by an increase in the engine rpms. the engine had to be shut off to stop the failure. after waiting a few moments, the vehicle was driven home and then to a dealer. the dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that the vehicle speed control experienced a shortage and needed to be replaced. the contact informed the dealer to disconnect the vehicle speed control and she did not plan on replacing it. the manufacturer was notified and stated that there were no recalls. no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was 123,410 and the current mileage was 143,000. sm.

I own a 2005 ford taurus sel. it's been a piece of junk since the day i bought it.when i first bought it,it was burning off front tires every 2000 miles,it was aligned by the dealer twice, ended up having to take it to a friends tire shop,we [i'm a motorcycle builer/welder..] ended up cutting the welds on the shock mount and moved it.the gas mileage is aweful, but now, after 96,000 miles, the transmission started acting up.it was changed every 30,000 miles, always looked like mud.two weeks after it started slipping,my wife was coming home late from work on a secluded, dark, really busy highway, out of the blue, the transmission just completely stopped working, she had to drive it into a ditch,or get killed, luckily, the car wasn't damaged badly otherwise.she spent 45 minutes stuck on the side of the road in the dark until i got there with a wrecker.i've looked online, and talked to friends who own garages, these cars are scrap.nearly every one that makes it to 100,000 miles will experience catastrophic transmission failure. at any time, anywhere, totally without warning... lou degrose

I own a 2005 ford taurus se wagon with 33k miles. while driving the interstate at 70mph, i began to ease over into the right lane and had to make a sudden move back into the left lane which sent my front end and steering wheel into a major oscillation which i have never experience in a car before. i don't see any recalls from ford on this issue but wondering if you may have received any similar accounts by other owners. no telling what would have happened had this occurred during winter driving or wet roads. also, it happened originally when my wife was driving with a similar requirement to do a sudden correction but in this case she was traveling less than 40 miles an hour on a city street when again the front end went into a major oscillation and difficult to bring back under control and the car back to center. please advise and thank you for your assistance. *tr
