As i was coming up the hill near my apartment at 30 mph on saturday, march 2, 2013, my vehicle suddenly accelerated as i reached the top of the hill. i immediately began to brake but the car was still pushing forward. i was able to park, but the car was still trying to move forward. i applied the emergency break. suddenly, my rpms shot up to around 6000. i cut the car off. when i turned it on thirty minutes later (still in park), the rpms shot up again. i checked this morning and it was no longer doing this, but i am hesitant to get behind the wheel of this car right now.

I was driving and my accelerator got stuck. i was only going 10 mph but it kept going when i hit the brakes. i placed the car in park and about an hour later i tried to drive home. it happened less than five minutes later. the engine revved up, the accelerator was to the floor. i hit the brakes, the emergency brake, and put the car in park and cut off the car. the accelerator was visibly to the floor. i was terrified but thankful i never made it on the highway.

I was driving and out of no where the gas pedal got stuck and i had to put it in neutral and pump the gas to get it to stop revving. when i put it in neutral the rpm's go to 4,000-5,000. this has happened on many occasions and seems to be worse when it is wet outside.

5 minutes into a trip through town i noticed that it was extremely hard to use my brakes, i had to force them down and hold the brake pedal hard. when the light turned green and i released the brakes my car shot forward without my foot on the gas pedal. about 20 minutes later on the freeway i realized my cruise control wasn't working.

The accelarator sticks. some times actually accerates. very hard to stop with brakes. this has occured several times. i could usually unstick the accelarator by pressing down more on the accelarator and letting up. the problem got worse and the frequency of occurrence increased. this became a very frieghtening situation. therefore, i have had work done at downtown ford in louisville. they replaced the throttle body. this work was done this past week and so far i have not experienced any further trouble.

After taking a right turn, the vehicle began accelerating on its own. i had to fully apply the brake to maintain control. it was terrifying. my whole body shook. i thought i would hit something because i did not think that i could stop the car. even while pushing the brake pedal all the way down and shifting into d i could not keep the car under 40 mph. the engine kept revving and the car kept gaining speed. luckily, the only light i had was green. i pulled into a parking lot and slowed the vehicle down to a stop by applying all my force to the brake. i shifted into park hoping that would keep the vehicle from moving. it caused a loud sound that sounded like an explosion and startled everyone in the parking lot. still not sure what to do, i turned the ignition off. a parking spot opened up so i turned on the ignition, that caused an even louder explosive sound. i was still terrified but i had to act - so i forced the brake pedal down as hard as i could and shifted to d and was able to navigate into the parking spot. i put the vehicle in park again and again it caused a loud explosive sound. by now i was a spectacle in the parking lot but i was just thankful that i was alive and that no one was hurt. i looked down at the gas pedal and noticed that it was fully depressed and loose. i pulled the pedal up but there was no tension to hold it up and it dropped back all the way down. i drove the vehicle back home, in much the same way - transmission in d, applying a lot of force to the brake and hoping that i would not have to stop suddenly or get pulled over for speeding since i could not get the vehicle slower than 40 mph even while pushing on the brake as hard as i could the whole trip. and when i parked the car at home, it made the same loud sound and i also heard ticking noises coming from under the hood. i am still shaken up by the incident.

While driving ,the gas pedal sticks, i try to put on the brakes the car just keeps going until i press the brakes hard. i press the pedal real sharp and it may idle down.

Regarding action #pe12005.sudden acceleration, my 2006 ford taurus had several instances of acceleration, beginning july 14 & 15th 2011, and ending approximately september 2011...i know the beginning dates are accurate, because one of these dates is a family birthday, and it happened first on that birthday.. this usually happened when i was decelerating, such as at stop lights..it required hard, heavy pressure on the brakes to keep the vehicle stopped until i could pull over and put the car in neutral i would guess the number of instances to be 6-8 times this somehow seemed related to my cruise control..my cruise stopped working on june 14 2011, then the incidents of acceleration started almost immediately..i was usually driving a daily stretch of road at 45 mph when the instances of acceleration occurred. when the accelerations happened, i puled over to the side of the road, riding the brakes hard until i was slowed, then i slipped the transmission in neutral and would depress the accelerator pedal fast and release..this usually caused the acceleration to stop...occasionally i had to shut the engine off to get this to cease.. after several weeks, this all stopped, and has not happened again in several months...my cruise control no longer works..

On jan. 10, 2012 i was coming to a stop at a cross walk with a follow to a stop light. it was at that time that the car accelerated so fast i had to put the brakes on, that was not going to stop the car, so i put it in neutal and hit the gas pedal with my foot, that stop the car from accelerating. i almost hit a person in the cross walk and then i would have gone in to the intersection. this was one of many incident's my self and my family, (husband, and son) had with this car. i called ford corp office and asked if there were any recalls on this problem of course they said no. i told them on the ford form website, others were having the same issue. still ford said there was nothing they could do, that no recalls were out there. i said does someone have to die to get a recall. still no real answer from them. so, i had to go to (3) different mechanics to figure out what was wrong. the ford dealer in greenfield, ma disconnected my cruise control, they said that it was latching on to the throttle, that was the problem. this to me is a ford recall issue. i plan on addressing this with the attorney general office.

I have a 2006 ford taurus. i used to live in texas and moved to buffalo area this summer. this morning when i drove my car out of the parking lot and onto the street road, the driver door suddenly opened by itself. then i was trying to close the door while i was trying but all failed. then i had to pull my car in the nearby parking space and stopped the car. eventually after trying quite a few times, i could close the door. this morning was pretty cold and below freezing temperature. after this incident, i checked with some of my colleagues and friends. quite a few people who drive ford taurus have experienced exactly the same issue with the driver door before. further i did some research on internet and found many complaints on the door closing issue of ford taurus during cold winter.

I was driving down the road and my anti theft light came on. when this light came on it felt like the car was shifting gears. doesn't seem to come on when the car is cold but after it has ran for about ten minutes. i went to town and back which is a ten minute drive and it came on 12 times. i brought it to a ford dealership and they thought it was my key even though it was doing it with my husbands key also. they gave us a new key and programed it. within about two minutes of leaving the dealer ship my anti theft light came back on. i won't drive the car because i'm afraid that it is just going to die. my husband took the car today to work and on his way home all the lights on the dash started flashing and then the car just quit. he was able to get it started again and drove it home it is now parked until we can get it into a garage and figure this out. i have looked on line and it seems to me this is a very common problem with the taurus. i would like to know if their is a recall and if you might know what is going on. the dealer ship that i talked to today said it sounds like it might be a censer that isn't working correctly. the ford dealer ship that i brought this to already has know idea what might be going on. hopefully the next dealer ship does.

I own a 2006 ford taurus. the vehicle accelerates to dangerous speeds without my hitting the gas and when the brakes are applied the rpm shows it has risen very high and it is very difficult to get the vehicle to come to a complete stop. it appears there is something wrong with the cruise control cable as it was twisted and as soon as it is untwisted the cruise control begins to work correctly and the vehicle stops accelerating on its own. however, it does it again within a few days. this has happened three times in two weeks. it is very dangerous and could easily get someone injured or worse. i see on several websites that i am not the only one with this model who is having this issue. this is an issue with the design or installation, not anything that we have done to the vehicle as no aftermarket adjustments or changes have occurred only routine maintenance.

About six months ago i was driving on the i-10 about 60mph and i noticed that my car was picking up speed. i removed my foot from the accelerator and the car was going faster and faster. i taped the acellerator and it went back to normal. two months later it did it again. i brought it in to my machanic and he could find anything wrong. while driving home from the machanic, i was driving about 45mph and it did the same thing. this time i cound not stop the problem so i pulled to the side of the road and turned the car off. i waited a few moments and started the car and drove home without any problems. one month later, while driving 30mph it happened again. then two more times after that. each time i had to turn the car off, wait a few moments before restarting. now it's back in the shop. the machanic said that they could not find any problems, but they're still checking other areas. why has ford not recalled the 2006 ford taurus for this problem? does someone have to be killed first?
