| Check transmission has come up three times on display over the past 2 months. i am not sure of the dates of the first 2 incidents but each time i found transmission fluid underneath the car as i drove away. i also found fluid on the engine block after the second incident. i took it to a local mechanic after the second incident, and they said my transmission was starting to go but they could not be specific on when this would happen. the last incident happened last week, and i decided to take it to the local ford dealership. they spent time looking at my car and found the problem to be the torque converter! again, i was also told that there was no telling when the transmission will fail. *tr | |||

| While returning to lubbock, tx from carrollton, tx with the cruise control on the engine began racing but the car slowed down. applied brake to turn off cruise control and coasted off the highway. the temperature was about 105 degrees outside and was 20 miles away from nearest town. was stranded until tow truck could make it out there. car would not engage in any gear. shop determined that torque converter failed. car has never towed anything. *tr | |||
