Out for a sunday drive and suddenly there was heavy brake noise at right rear brake. the brake pads and rotor were ruined. the brake pads had locked up and would not release. all other brakes ok. ford claimed this was normal brake wear, would not fix the problem. this may be normal for ford cars, it has not been my experience with other brands. *tr

I noticed a brake issue in 2011 and brought my car into ford for repair. i was told there was no issue with my brakes. i brought my car to another mechanic who said the pedal was going to the floor and that there definitely was an issue. i brought the car back and they claimed there still was no issue. i called ford customer care on 12/12/12 and after days of arguing they agreed to fix the front brakes. they advised that there was no issue with the back brakes. i still had a squeak but the pedal was no longer going to the floor. i was told a squeak can be normal. last week i noticed a grinding sound coming from what appeared to again be the brakes. i have 12,000 additional miles on the car since first bringing it in. i am now told that the back brakes need a complete repair because the caliper is locked and the pads and rotors are destroyed. i asked why this wasn't fixed before and they said it was not something ford was going to cover because it was not locked at that time. i am 6000 miles over the warranty and was told that i would have to pay $560.00 for the repairs. i looked online and found a host of others complaining of the same issue and also found a service notice (tsb 10-7-2) posted by ford motor company advising how to repair rear brake drag or rear brake noise. this bulletin was issued for vehicles (including the 2010 ford taurus) build on or before 12/14/2009 and discusses repairing calipers as is needed in my repair. i was outraged that this problem was out there but that they did not correct the problem back in december when i complained of brake issues. after calling the customer service department and speaking with a customer service supervisor ([xxx] id#[xxx]) i was told they would not cover this repair because it doesn't apply to vehicles built where mine was built or because of some other reason they could not explain. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

This is the second occassion in two weeks. one surge occured from a full stop and the abs brakes didn't stop the vehicle before bumper impact. second accident was when i was traveling 20-30 mph and went to stop and the car surge with the abs foot pedal pressed as hard as possible. the abs brakes made a noise 3 times before impact to rear bumper / spare tire. in addition i have complained to my dealership the last 3 service visits that the right side of the front brakes make a grinding noise sporadically when braking. i have also experienced loss of power while on a highway (very scary)

There is grunting grinding and squeeling from the front and rear brakes the car has 10000 miles on it and now it pulls suddenly from one side to the other on hard braking. my dealer has refused to doccument my problems and wants to keep the car for 2 to 8 weeks to evaluate and fix the problems, to date they can not duplicate the problem and will not fix it.

Both front brake pads did not wear in as they should have. only the inner 1/2 inch of the outer pad appears to have seated against the rotor, not the full width of the pad. the pads and rotors were replaced but the problem has reappeared on the new parts exactly like the first set. the left and right front brakes have the same problem, it's not just one side. an unusual noise sometimes occurs when coming to a stop. braking distance is compromised.

While driving at any speed the front brakes would make a grinding noise. i had the ford dealer diagnose and according to them a tsb was put out by ford to replace the rear brakes. the rear brakes were replaced and the noise is till there.

Vehicle was fine untill 20k miles. no noise, no pulling or stopping issues. without warning the grinding came on and the rotors were already completely shot.

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 ford taurus. while braking at any speed a grinding noise could be heard coming from the brakes. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where all of the rotors and drums were replaced. approximately 3 months later while driving approximately 35 mph the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle and continue driving. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the throttle body was replaced. the failure mileage was 2,000 and the current mileage was 8,300. the vin was unavailable. sm.

Brakes grinding in the front drivers side. at first, dealer attempted to state that they were unable to duplicate. however, now dealer acknowedges that they have had several complaints with the brakes on this model/year, and that there is a tsb on it. the were able to resolve the issue by replacing both sets of front rotors and pads, along with a braket and support.

2010 ford taurus sho- when brakes are applied grinding noise is heard. happened after about 1000 mi., dealer replaced pads..most prevalent when weather is colder. was good for awhile but started again after 9000 mi.! brought back to dealer, says he will change rotors and pads this time. hope this does it, i'm getting tired of trips to the dealer!

During routine city driving, moderate braking produces significant grinding noise and associated vibration in brake pedal. braking action is still good, but noise produces a significant distraction which creates tendency for the driver to release brake pressure to eliminate the noise. failure seems to occur during all types of weather and driving conditions, but is most often observed when moisture is present either in humid weather or precipitation. dealer checked rotors and pads within tolerances and all calipers appear in order. dealer cannot diagnose the problem, but admits other drivers have reported the exact same issue in the same model year and trim.

Grinding front brakes not related to worn pads.

Tl*the contact owns a 2010 ford taurus. there was a loud grinding noise when the vehicle came to a stop and the brakes were engaged. the vehicle was taken to the dealer four times and they were unable to diagnose the failure. the brakes, rotors and pads have been replaced and the noise has become louder. the manufacturer was called and they are trying to reach the dealer but to no avail. each time the manufacturer called the dealer there was no answer. a report was filed with the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 800.
