Harsh transmission engagement and loss of power with higher rpm and a max speed of about 20 mph- replaced speed sensors tss & oss . same problem occurred again 11,518 miles later replacing the same parts which ford or dealer would not cover at a cost of $593.00. tsb 07-21-11 replacing with parts aa5z-7h103 and aa5z-7m101 on both occasions of failure. had to limp home both times for many miles. wife now refuses to drive car. i can't believe ford doesn't stand behind a problem like this when it has a tsb and a multitude of the same reported problem.

Car has a tendancy to drift right or left while traveling. more pronunced drift while stopping. excessive tire wear. dealer inspection indicates gears in gear box are loose and gear box needs replacing and vehicle needs alignment. second set of front tires are worn down to wear bar after only 13,000 miles. cost for gear box replacement and four wheel alignment is $900. dealer stated no recalls or service bulletins for steering/gear problem. *tr

First occasion was when my wife was driving the car and she was parking and the car surged. it happened on several more occasions and on 12/17/2010 ford replaced the throttle body and air intake. then on 2-03-2012 and 12-10-2012 car surged again. ford dealer ship said they could not find cause. on 12-10-2012the car was coming to a stop and the engine began to surge reach around 4000 rpm, i pushed the brake and it continued to surge and i had to put in it in neutral to stop it from lunging into the intersection. it continued to surge as i put it into gear and moved through the intersection. it then stopped surging and behaved normally. i took it to the dealership and they said they could find nothing. i has since surged again while stopping at a stop sign. *tr

Driving on highway from milwaukee wi, to oshkosh, wi. after driving around an hour at freeway speed and cruise control set at 70, car sudenly accelerated on its own and rpm went up too. took car off of cruise control and continued driving. the car did it again after a few minutes, accompanied by a loud 'thunk' noise. immediately got off freeway, turned off car and waited till driving again. problem did not reoccur then. but happened again next day on way home. since then it has occurred numerous times. generally only happens on lnog trips at freeway speeds after driving about an hour to hour and a half. we do not use cruise control any more, but it still happens on every long trip. have taken to dealership and contacted ford. they dont see any service codes so nothing has been fixed.

We initially had issues at 35k miles with the transmission making loud noises and suddenly jerking while accelerating from a stop. took the car to the dealership and they said they couldn't figure out what the problem was but since we reported it prior to the expiration of the warranty we would be covered if it continued to have problems. in september 2011 the problem was finally bad enough that it tripped the computer and they said that they just needed to replace the sensors (oss and tss), and that it would be a $600 repair. i reminded them that we brought it in for the repair prior to the expiration of the warranty and they eventually agreed to make the repair for a $200 deductible. a month later the transmission went out completely while driving down a narrow road at approximately 35mph. the car lost power but we were eventually able to limp home at 5mph. i agreed and they made the repair. at this point all of the jerking from the bad sensors had destroyed several gears in the transmission and necessitated a complete rebuild ($3900). if they had fixed the problem in the first place the transmission would never have been damaged from trying to shift at the wrong times due to the bad sensors! there were safety concerns throughout the life of this vehicle as is jerked, jumped, and ultimately failed in a completely unpredictable fashion.rebuild ($3900). if they had fixed the problem in the first place the transmission would never have been damaged from trying to shift at the wrong times due to the bad sensors! there were safety concerns throughout the life of this vehicle as is jerked, jumped, and ultimately failed in a completely unpredictable fashion.

Car stalls sometimes when braking approaching stoplights and lunges inexplicably and randomly both when stopped and when moving at lower speeds. this problem has been building over the past couple of months and has become a serious safety issue. at some point, we will end up rear ending somebody or hitting a pedestrian at a crosswalk. while braking seems to be able to overcome the surges in throttle, it all comes down to reaction time as this problem is random and frequent and at some point it will cause an accident.

I was pulling out of a parking lot onto a street, when i pushed on the accelerator the car crept forward with resistance, as if trying to accelerate with the parking brake on. the car moved into the road at no more than 2 miles per hour. i immediately took my foot off the accelerator, then back on to try to move forward and out of the way of coming traffic. the car then moved forward and accelerated as it normally should. i was very fortunate that there was no immediate oncoming traffic, however, if the car had failed to accelerate normally after i released it and reengaged i probably would have been hit. after getting home i noticed a spot on the driveway where something was leaking from the car. my husband investigated and thought power steering fluid was leaking. i took the car in for a diagnostic check and the report was that it was acutally a leak from the transmission cooler. because the transmission coolant is the same coil as the air conditioning it will cost around $600 to replace. i'm currently waiting for a second quote for the repairs.

We have been having transmission problems since we bought this car, they keep re-setting the computer so it does not show any codes now that it is out of warranty we need to purchase a new transmission on a car that is only 2 years old. the dealership say's that they are not willing to help with this even though we have already purchased a new cooling system for the transmission, they have changed the throttle body and it has been in numerous times. as of friday dec 3,2010 they told me that we needed to purchase a new transmission so we told them that we wanted to have are car back after i got my car back they reset the code again when they put it back into my car. i took it to a transmission place it is not showing any codes... ford did not fix the car they just re-set it 5,677 miles - windshield leaked they resealed 6, 000 miles - engine light came on they put in a new throttle body told us the gas cap was not on correctly 32,368 miles - sent back in because engine light came on again it was hard shifting in to 2nd. tech verified it was shifting hard into second they re-set it and told me i had to get new tires. i purchased them 47,477 miles - sent back in because there car was smoking they found a/c/ condenser/oil cooler leaking we replaced it for over $400 58,923 we called because it was shifting hard again they could not see us for 2 1/2 weeks car is now over mileage warranty and they are stating that i need a new transmission. i came and took my car back and they put my transmission back in my car and re-set it again. i took it to a transmission place and it is not showing any codes because they re-set it. by re-setting it and not fixing it from the beginning now we are responsible for paying for a new transmission i believe that ford should pay for the new transmission because this matter was started and continued while under warranty they pushed me off until it was out of warranty. i do not feel we should be responsible for this on going problem

I own a 2008 ford taurus x awd. i noticed a puddle of transmission fluid underneath the vehicle along the front passenger side. dealer diagnosed the problem as a bad front transmission seal. i was advised that the repair would take from five to twenty five days to complete due to a backlog of approximately 3,000 vehicles (taurus, taurus x) nationwide necessitating this part replacement. why wouldn't this be made part of a nationwide recall or at least a technical service bulletin? quality is supposed to be job number one at ford. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford taurus x. the transmission will not down-shift properly. this condition causes her to increase her stopping distances. on one occasion the transmission shifted into a higher gear, but the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer multiple times for inspection. since the technicians could not identify the cause of the failure, nor locate any error codes, they could not provide a remedy. the failure mileage was 28,000. updated 11/10/09. *lj updated 11/10/09

The vehicle will roll backwards while in drive if stopped on an incline and foot is removed from brake, it rolls like it is in neutral. *tr

The new ford taurus x (front wheel drive) vehicle rolls back when you take your foot off the brake to move it to the accelerator when on an incline. it will keep rolling as far as you let it go. this is a safety concern to anyone owning one. i am not use to driving with two feet and should not have to. this vehicle is an accident waiting to happen. what are they going to do when some child runs behind a car and the car rolls back and hits them. we were told at the dealership it is because of the transmission ford put in it. i have written the ford company many times about the situation. the last email said ford was within their specifications for the vehicle. i am getting rid of this vehicle. the all wheel drive car gives you about 3 seconds to get your foot from the brake to the accelerator before it rolls back which is enough time but the front wheel drives do not. we were also told ford has this same transmission in most of their vehicles. i have not hit anyone yet, but have come close 3 times already and i have only had the vehicle since december. *tr

I wanted to bring potential fire hazard safety recall to your attention. i own a 2008 ford taurus x with 42,000 miles on it the transmission fluid leaks from the passenger side driveshaft yolk (where the shaft enters the trans case). car is in excellent condition never in accident. trans fluid drips onto exhaust and then burns to a point of charring on the exhaust (i can send pictures). i have scheduled a service at my local ford dealer (rt 23 ford, butler, nj). i hope they fix the problem, but since it is a fire hazard i had to share this detail with you in case a recall should be considered. the taurus x is a seven passenger family car and i wouldn't want to see a tragedy if a $100 seal replacement can avoid the issue. *tr
