After complete headlight failure while driving, took car to dealer for repair. i was advised by mechanic that multifunction switch assembly was burned due to quote excessive draw from headlamp and fog lamp switches. he advised me that headlamp and fog lamp switches were not in stock but to replace multifuntion switch and hardshell and not to use fog lamps. he could not confirm that multifunction switch and hardshell were in fact defective. i had the repair made at cost of $224.08. another ford dealer examined the old multifuntion switch and hardshell and did not believe there was anything wrong with them. on nov. 22 1999 i went to bob sight ford to present recall #99s30, i also requested a full refund for the multifunction switch because i believe that this headlamp switch recall proves that if the multifuntion switch and hardshell were defective it is the direct cause of the headlamp switch being defective. i truley believe i was sold parts that were not defective. the man i spoke to put my recall letter and service receipt back on the counter and told me there was nothing he could do for me. *ak

I received a recall to notify me of the problem with my headlamp switch this caused my headlights to turn off intermittently while i was driving. i then went to rodman ford to fix the problem . the headlights seemed to work fine until one year when the same problem occurred one year later. when i called rodman to rectify the second defective headlamp switch they refused due to a warranty on their replacement parts. my concern is that this is the second faulty part (headlamp switch) and should be considered under the recall, since the second one lasted less time than the first headlamp switch. while i can understand warranty limitations on other parts, this is an extreme safety issue while driving at night. i can not afford to keep replacing this part yearly. obviously there is a problem with this switch that the ford motor vehicle company needs to look into. i have received no satisfaction from ford. this company should not be allowed to handle safety issues with their vehicles in such a poor manner. this problem could cause serious accidents in the future to unaware consumers. i would like to see further action taken on this matter. thank you carrie callahan. *ak

Took car in to have a recall on a head lamp switch fixed. told them car seems to have a hesitation when taking off after a complete stop. they told me it had to have the iac censor replaced. had that done at a cost of 363.00. they also put in a new thermostat, sid engine wasn't getting hot enough? 2 days later car still hesitated and over heated. was told head gasket needed to be replaced. had that fixed 900.00. they also told me i should have the timing cover replaced because it has a possible crack? took to an independent auto shop had them take a look, they said it looked fine? *ak

*ak
