Defect SummaryForest river is recalling certain my 2003-2006 motor homes, fifth wheel and travel trailers equipped with a two-door refrigerator manufactured by the dometic corporation. the refrigerator may have a defect in the boiler tube. pressurized coolant solution could be released into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present.
Consequence SummaryIf this solution is exposed to an ignition source under certain specific circumstances, it can result in a vehicle fire.
Corrective SummaryForest river is working with dometic to repair these refrigerators (please see 08e032). dometic will repair these refrigerators by installing a secondary burn housing, a thermal fuse, and a melt fuse free of charge. dometic has retained stericycle inc. to manage this campaign. stericycle will assist the owner in locating dealerships or service centers and will provide assistance with scheduling of appointments. owners may contact dometic/stericycle at 1-888-446-5157 or forest river at 1-574-389-4600.

 Tl*the contact owns a 2003 forest river sierra rv. the vehicle has a dometic refrigerator, model rm2652. the contact received a recall notice for the refrigerator in the beginning of 2008. she had the burner housing installed to prevent a fire spread, according to the recall. in february of 2009, she noticed that the refrigerator did not function at all. a few days later, the contact found a yellow residue around the boiler tube for the refrigerator. the manufacturer offered no assistance. the part number and purchase date were unknown.

 Consumer writes in regards to dometic refrigerator not working *tgw the consumer stated when he checked the rear of the refrigerator, he discovered yellow residue, and a fatigue crack in the boiler tube, in which ammonia leaked out. a repairman installed the required sbh kit on the refrigerator at no charge. *jb

 Tl* the contact owns a 2003 forest river sierra. while parked, the contact noticed that the rear shackles had fractured. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic test. the contact stated that he was unable to locate the parts needed for the repair. the contact repaired the failure himself without using the actual parts. the approximate failure mileage was 5,000.
