The dealer stated the abs did not work properly. the vehicle took longer to stop . *ak test results showed that the rear sensor was bad. (they were changed twice and the brakes still didn't work properly) the problem was a solid brake pedal with no braking, then would break loose and overbrake. pressure being applied would cause uncontrolled braking. this problem was intermittent. it was found that when the motor coach company extended the frame, they also extended the wiring harness using minimum quality, possibly substandard, wiring and connectors. Around october 20th, 2010, my 1999 ford windstar was making a weird noise when i a make a right turn and also when i step on the gaz pedale. the noise came from the front right of the vehicule, at first i thought it was a break problem. i took it right a way to my mecanic to be diagnosted. when the technician lifted the van, he noticed right a way the sub frame all rusted and broken. my mechanic did not let me drive it because it's a high risk, he said the engine can fall any moment. due to the hight cost of replacing a new sub frame, the technician sugested a used one but in good condition. it costed me $723.00 to replace it. i went to the nearest ford dealer to complaint but i was told that that specific part of the vehicle was not recalled and it's due to the age of the vehicle. i am still afraid to drive my ford windstar even after i replaced it. curently my van is siting at ford dealer parking lot, it's under recall for the rear axle.
TIRES - TREAD/BELT | |||

Regarding: bridgestone/firestone tire failure (tracking #ft20050726-0000000175) factory installed firestone tires which came with our motorhome when purchased. we feel these tires are faulty and pose a danger. these tires are not safe. having the tread separate from the sidewall on three tires, during a recent trip, creates a concern for safety. fortunately on the motorhome sustained undercarriage damage. we were not injured, although the possibility was there. no other vehicles or their occupants were injured from the dislodged flying tread. again we would like to emphasize that these tires are faulty and pose a serious potential for loss of property and above ll a serious potential for bodily injury and possibly loss of life. *jb the left rear outer tire separated and the left rear inner tire separated, both on two separate occasions causing damage to the undercarriage, fuel system, wires, the trim of the vehicle and the exhaust system. *sc

Firestone steeltex tires, 9000 miles on them, 31' motorhome on ford e450 chassis, tires to proper inflation, vehicle stored inside, 50 degrees outside. driving at approx. 60-65 mph only about 25 miles underway when the passenger side rear inner dual tire came apart and then blew. as the tread was coming off it grabbed the exhaust pipe and whipped it around under the coach, doing fairly extensive damage (blown out gray water tank, wiring, bent cross beam, tore up underside of coach, ruined back half of muffler, etc., etc.) to the tune of approx. $5,000. firestone, ford or motorhome manufacturer all passed the buck.*jb
