Defect SummaryVehicle description: glaval conversion vans and pickup trucks. the retainer clips were not removed from the rear brake drum wheel stud bolts prior to the installation of a custom wheel.
Consequence SummaryThe wheel can appear to be or can actually go out of balance and could crack in the lug nut area increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect the wheels and remove the retainer clips if still in place and also inspect wheels for cracks (including the front wheels, if the tires have been rotated). if the wheels are cracked in the lug nut area, the wheels will be replaced.

 Tl - the contact owns a 1997 ford f150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph the oil pressure gage light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing. the mechanic stated the oil pressure sensor needed to be replaced. the contact stated the failure was repaired three times. the vehicle was taken the fourth failure to the dealer for a diagnostic testing. the technician stated there were no failures. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 103,000 and the current mileage was 107,600. dr

 When approaching an intersection, stepped on brake, pedal went to floor. vehicle would not stop. inspection showed brake line had ruptured from corrosion at rear axle. replace one brake line. while bleeding brakes, another line ruptured.
