We have a 2001 gmc 2500hd crewcab with the abs breaking problem. at slow speeds under 10 mph everytime you stop the abs activates not alowwing the truck to stop. gm now has a recall on some models but refuses to fix this problem. this is my 19 yr olds sons truck this needs to be fixed by gm before he gets in an accident and kills himself or someone else. there are so many complaints on the internet about this problem. why is there nothing being done with the vehicles outside of gm's recall. i am sick of company's making crap and not having to fix it. *cn

When applying the brakes at low speeds the abs kicks on. i have researched this and there has been a recall from gm but my vin number is not on the recall it falls under the year make and model and i only have 48,000 miles on the truck. the bulletin number is 05068c from gm. *tr

I was driving my 2001 gmc 2500 hd truck down the road to lock in the 4wd due to a heavy snow storm in the north east. when i got to the end of the road and applied the brakes the anti lock brakes kicked in (brake pedal pulsing) then the pedal went to the floor. i had to hit the gas to prevent being hit in the drivers door due to going through the stop sign with no brakes. i did call the dealer that i bought the truck from they said that the brake lines are not covered under gm warranty or recalls and would cost over $1000 to replace all brake lines. i find this to be a serious safety issue for a truck with only 97000 miles on it. i would hope gm would step up and cover all cost for this repair. *tr

Driving in a single lane portion of i80 at the 97 mile post. a tractor trailer made a rolling stop at the on ramp and scared the driver in front of me. the lady hit her brakes hard. i naturally did the same only my pedal went to the floor as i had two rusted brake lines, one front and one rear, blow at the same time. i managed to swerve and get between the other pickup and the tractor trailer only hitting the passenger side mirror on the other pickup. i had to use the emergency brake to finally stop and had to have my truck hauled home. i can not believe that from the number of these brake line failures listed on the internet and after talking with my garage about the number of these gm trucks that have had the brake lines fail that nothing has been done about it. i have two other vehicles both older and with more miles on them with brake lines no where near as bad as the ones on my truck. *tr

Front wheel (both) speed sensor were corroded and would not pass inspection. there was a recall, campaign number 05v379000 date: aug 29,2005 that describes the exact problem we had with the sensors. we took the vehicle in on 9/07/05 for an inspection and it did not pass due to the sensors. we were advised to pay for repair ($500) and send receipt in when our vin number was listed on the recall....to this day gm claims we do not qualify and i would like to make a formal complaint that we should be reimbursed for our repairs. *nm

Dt: the contact owns a 2001 gmc 2500 pick up truck, and the brakes have completely deteriorated. the vehicle had only 18,000 miles. while driving heard a buzzing noise from the back of the vehicle. the consumer continued driving the vehicle home, and later had the vehicle towed to a service dealer. the service dealer stated the vehicle needed to have brake pads, rotors, and calipers on the back. on the front of the vehicle the rotors will need to be turned. the abs front speed sensor was defective. the service dealer had to replace the abs front speed sensor, replace at least one rotor on the back, a back caliper, and the front rotors will need to be turned, and may have to replace the front brake pads. *ak

Driving on highway in the evening road was wet due to earlier rain, traveling at 60-65 mph, when another car passed us and changed lanes erratically which caused the need to slow down. upon engaging the brakes the abs failed to work, and vehicle's rear end lost traction and slid into next lane of traffic, then hit guard rail and spun truck around and hit bridge guard rail on opposite side, causing truck to startle and ride concrete bridge median and finally coming to rest in grass median. both the driver and passenger air bags failed to deploy causing minor injuries to both occupants. needless to say truck is totaled. *la

I was driving my 2001 gmc hd pickup when i lost power steering and power brakes at the same time due to a shaft in the power steering pump breaking. the power steering and brakes are both driven by the same pump. the repair shop indicated this was not the first time they have seen this problem and the shaft was a poor design because it narrows at one end which is where they have seen them break in similar vehicles. *jb
