 Tl- the contact owns a 2009 gmc acadia. while driving approximately 80 mph, the contact depressed the break pedal but the brakes would not respond and the rpms abnormally increased to approximately 6,000. the contact was able to stop the vehicle after continually depressing the brakes. the contact heard a loud popping sound once the vehicle came to a stop and noticed smoke emitting from the front passenger side of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. the technician replaced the front and rear brake pads and rotors, and stated that the floor mat had become entangled with the accelerator pedal. he failure caused the vehicle to accelerate suddenly. the contact did not agree with the technician's diagnosis. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 60,830. kmj
