I took my truck in to the dealer because the rear brakes would stick the when depressed and released doing normal stop and go in my neighborhood at intersections with stop signs. the deal service advisor informed me that there was a service bulletin on my rear brakes. the did the repairs as stated in the service bulletin and that i would not have a problem with my brakes. i told the service advisor at the dealership that in order for the proper repairs done that both sides if my rear axle brakes should have new parts installed, not just one side. on the day of june 20th 2011 with only 25277 miles on my 2007 gmc canyon the brakes started to stick and squeal again just like when i had the first work done as stated in the first service bulletin. now the service advisor informs that i must pay the labor charges for these new repairs to install parts and the rear axle brakes even after the fact i informed them that i purchased the extented warranty coverage because at the time i purchased this warranty i was told that if any mechanical failed i would be covered and i could drive my new truck worry free of any problem after the original 3 year or 30,000 miles, which ever comes first, ran out.

I have a 2007 gmc canyon pickup and recently the rear brakes have excessive grab, aggressive drag, and the rear drums lock up cautioning an unsafe condition. after the vehicle has set for a while, during the first few stops or before you get heat built up in the brakes, it feels as though the brakes are grabbing excessively. in addition, the tires chirp and/or leave skip marks during braking. the condition is very unsettling to the driver and i believe the excessive brake grab could cause an accident. i have searched technical bulletins and found the following gm service bulletin (07-05-24-001b). i have contacted my dealer that i bought the truck from and they have indicated it is not under a safety recall and the repair is going to cost $240. i believe this condition warrants a recall and the cost be absorbed by the manufacturer. due to economic conditions at this time, i believe i am among most consumers who cannot afford a major repair such as this at this time. i also believe that the initial condition with the rear brakes will increase the brake wear on the front brakes. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 gmc canyon. the contact had to use excessive force to depress the brake pedal and stop the vehicle. upon brake application, he heard a loud squeaking noise. he took the vehicle to the dealer on numerous occasions, but they could not determine the cause of the failure and provide a remedy. the failure mileage was 4,000 and current mileage was 20,000. 4/01/09 *nj updated 04/09/09.*jb |
