2004 gmc envoy headlights would periodically dimm and go off during breaking. without warning headlights failed with no indication. repair at gmc dealer cost $130 for a hdm relay. very dangerous failure as no fuses failed, no lamps failed, but a hidden component failed which caused me to go off a highway at high speed at night. *tr

The truck's dim lights all of the sudden stop working. the bright lights come on, but the dim lights will not come on at all. the bulbs were checked, and the dimmer switch. i've taken it to 2 mechanics, and no one can find out what's wrong with the lights. i can't get my tags renewed because the dim lights don't work at all. i've called gmc to see of any recalls, and they stated only rear tail lights. i definitely think its a manufacturers default, and would like the issue resolved. *tr

I have been experiencing headlights, interior lights, lighting in the dash, and other lighting flicker while driving. it appears to be happening more and more. the lights become very dim and then get bright again in a matter of a few seconds. this is getting to be dangerous as people tend to pull over in front of me and sometimes traffic in going in the opposite direction coming towards me will pull of the road all thinking that i am flashing them either due to an emergency or just some wild driver behind the wheel. i had taken my vehicle to the dealer but he states he can not find anything wrong. of course he also stated they took it for a ride but it does not happen for them. i guess not, it is hard to see lights flickering in the sunshine. *nm

The headlights and dashlights flicker from bright to dim while driving and when braking. it's a dangerous situation to have other drivers as well as myself distracted by the constant flickering, but research seems to indicate that there is no fix for the problem and an overall lack of concern from gmc. *tr
03/28/20074500010
2004 gmc envoy, headlights flickered while driving. oncoming traffic thought i was flashing at them, causing them to pull over or flash me back, safety hazard. took car twice to dealership, but they failed to find the cause of the problem. e found on online forums where many people have similar problem with no answers. *ak

Headlights did not work, just fog and high beams, took to dealer to fix, spent $500.00 and after i picked it up, same thing happened again, within a week, plus i received a ticket and points for driving without headlights. took back to have fixed again, and they tried charging me another $200.00 saying it was something else un-related. turned on engine, and it didn't sound quite right, ended up stalling about 4 times, on way home, ended up calling them to have car towed back to dealership. they claim it was nothing they did, however, it still stalls for no apparent reason, untl this day. never know when it could happen, very dangerous, and i am in sales and drive for a living. *jb

04/22/20044
2004 gmc envoy developed the following problems: vehicle stalled, turn signals stopped working, blower fan stopped working, and the srs light remains lit.*mr the turn siganls stopped working due to a short in the flasher. the powertrain control module was replaced due to the ses light iluminating. the blower motor fan failed 4 times due to a short in the wires and control head. the vehicle overheated, but the problem could not be diagnosed. the lcd displays, knobs become extremly hot after hours of driving. *jb
11/13/20041
When right directional signal was actuated, intermittently would also activate hazard (4-way) flashers. dealer replaced flasher module (ref tsb 30842014) and has been ok since then. *jb
