Defect SummaryCertain honeywell fram racing brand hp4 and hp8 oil filters that were manufactured from may 25, 2006, through september 14, 2007, and sold for use as replacement equipment for vehicles list above. the affected filters are marked with a date code a61451 through a72571 sequentially. the date code and part number appear on the filter housing. fram racing hp4 and hp8 oil filters not bearing a date code in this range are not affected by this recall. the gasket of the oil filter becomes more pliable under high temperatures and pressures.
Consequence SummaryThis condition may cause inadequate sealing and loss of engine oil, possibly resulting in a fire.
Corrective SummaryHoneywell will replace the affected oil filters free of charge. the recall began during november 2007. owners can contact fram customer service toll-free at 1-800-890-2075.

 Tl* the contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 2500. the contact stated that while driving at 5 mph and pulling up to his driveway he tried to unlock the doors of vehicle and they would not unlock. he was also unable to unlock the doors with the remote. he then tried to unlock the vehicle from the outside to no avail.this failure only occurs on the drivers side. the dealer was contacted and they stated to bring the vehicle in to be diagnosed. he then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic. it took 1 hour to open the door , they took the door apart and removed the electrical half of the mechanism and replaced it and then it finally worked. the part was ordered from the gmc dealer. there is another problem with the anti lock brake system where he is driving 5 mph when making a turn and stepping on the brakes the brakes do not engage. he has to put the vehicle in neutral for the vehicle to stop. gmc was contacted and they stated that they will repair the whole brake system at the owners expense . there have been no repairs at the time of the complaint for the brakes. the failure mileage was 116900 and current mileage was 117000.
