Defect Summary | Certain federal-mogul replacement wheel hub assemblies with the brand names: national, carquest p/nos. 515020, 515021, 515025, 515053, 515054, 515059, and 515060, shipped between january 23, 2006, and december 20, 2007, sold for light duty and medium duty trucks. the inboard retention nut used to maintain hub bearing assembly can loosen resulting in an abs light indication, noise, and/or wheel separation. | |||||||||||||||

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 gmc sierra 1500. the contact was driving approximately 5 mph in rainy weather conditions and pressure was applied to the brake pedal, followed by an activation of the anti-lock brake system. the failure occurred at extremely low speeds. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the failure was contributed to severe corrosion in the anti-lock brake sensor. there was a prior recall repair under nhtsa 07e106000 (wheels:cap/cover/hub). however, the remedy failed to correct the safety related defect. the vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction. the failure mileage was 34,000. the steering shaft was replaced. updated 02/18/10 |
