I own a 2005 gmc sierra pick-up truck. somewhere in the steering column there is a clunking noise whenever you turn the steering wheel. i contacted gmc and they stated they were not aware of any problem, however i could take it to a gmc dealer and have it evaluated for about $100.00. i contacted 2 independent service shops and both stated that is a problem with the gmc's and is caused by movement inside the steering shaft. they would not commit to state that it is a safety hazard, however it does concern me. since gmc is not concerned, i felt you should be aware of this problem. *tr

Power steering failure. dealer has attempted to repair number of times nothing has worked. quits working at any time then began working again. numerous complaints on other site forums. my concern is not being able to turn/control vehicle. problem began with-in 1st year of ownership. truck now has 33,000 and just out of 3 year warranty. gm has set-up service at another dealership. i just hope problem can be corrected. this is very scary problem to have i just don't trust the steering. i don't want myself and others end up becoming statistics. i hope gm really takes a hard look at this. *tr

Steering assembly shimmies ridiculously. i have not been contacted about the recall of the steering shaft. campaign # 05v018000. i am sure there is a problem with the assembly at this point. fortunately there have been no crashes or complete failure. however i am angry i was not notified of the problem, it has gotten worse in the last two weeks. i thought my tires were out of balance and had that checked twice, and rotated. i drove through curves on canyon roads everyday to and from work and i now that i am aware of a problem i am very concerned. *ak
