TIRES - PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS
09/01/20082680
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 gmc sierra k3500. the contact stated that the front and rear tire pressures are different and when the vehicle was in four wheel drive it was difficult for the vehicle to maintain full traction, almost causing the contact to loose control of the vehicle. the dealer made ten attempts to diagnose a failure. the dealer rotated the drive shaft and rebuilt the rear end; however, the problem continued to occur. the manufacturer was notified who informed the contact that this was the charteristics of the vehicle and offered no additional assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the current mileage was approximately 25,000. the failure mileage was approximately 2680. bw

My 2008 gmc sierra 3500hd has a chatter when turning, gm is aware of the problem and has a bulliten for a repair, however the repair may or may not completely solve the issue it didnt on mine. while turning the rear axles stays in a lock position and doesnt allow the rear tires to turn separate speeds this can cause the vehical to go into a skid without notice and they set front and rear tire pressures different and the door stickers confirm that this is like driving a 4 wheel drive with small tires on the front and big tires on the back. not only does this cause driveline failures but also could become unsafe and cause a loss of control. i have spun out more than once while truning at low speeds and once was on the way home from the dealer after the service manager told me it was fixed he drove it himself it has ruined the tires and now they are rebuilding the rear axle with only 25000 miles on it.
