Reduced power indicator on information center comes on intermitantly, when it does, vehicles goes into default mode & can go max 30 mph (very dangerous, was almost rear ended). never know when it might happen. you can pull over shut engine off sit for a little while & it will start up & run fine until the next time the reduced power light comes on. have had it @ several shops & replaced throttle sensor, traced wires, replaced grounds, inspected harness but doesn't seem to help. i see on the online message boards there is a lot of problems that gm can't seem to find a fix for. it is very dangerous, someone is going to get killed.

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 gmc yukon xl. the contact stated that the speedometer displays inaccurate speeds. while idling, the speedometer will read 40 mph or jump from 40 mph to 100 mph. the only new equipment was the rear bumper, which was replaced in 2006. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and they stated that the vin was included in a recall. however, they would not repair the vehicle for free due to the mileage. the tire pressure warning light was the only indicator illuminated on the instrument panel at the time of the failures. the nhtsa campaign id number was unknown. the failure mileage was 101,000 and current mileage was 110,000.

It is funny we have had two gmc yukon xl in our family and the speedodimeter has stop working in both. there must be a problem with theses. please let me know if there is a recall and why not? it seems from what we were told at the dealership that this is a problem. it happens when the cars just go out of warranty.

While driving, the speedometer on my 2004 gmc yukon xl denali fails. it will either read 0 - 5, or 70-100. i can't tell how fast/slow i am going. when calling the dealer, i was told it was not under warranty, and will cost $500 - 700!!! this is a safety issue, and after researching, have found out that many, many, many people are experiencing this... please force a recall? i can't afford this repair, nor do i think any of us should have to pay for it when it is obviously a faulty part from the manufacturer...*nm

On arrival from 80-mile trip, we parked vehicle and turned-off ignition. upon alighting from vehicle, we detected a burning odor. inspection revealed smoke released through front grille. release of hood allowed smoke to billow-out. flames emerged immediately, spreading quickly from engine bay rearward, engulfing entire vehicle, which was destroyed, along with other vehicle parked alongside. fire department responded to immediate call for help and extinguished all fires within 30 minutes of call. *nm

Ever since i purchased my 2004 yukon xl in dec. 2003 the stability trac system has been disabled. the digital read out just blinks disabled. my local dealers keep telling me that gm is aware of the problem, but can't give me any answers. you would think someone would know something by now. the reason i purchased the yukon with the stabili-trac was for the safety of my family. i spent alot of money to buy the vehcile and now feel cheated due to not having what i really purcahsed the yukon for.*ak

I purchased a 2004 yukon xl on 10-19-04 and i have had problems with the vehicles air bag system ever since. i have taken my vehicle in on at least 12 occasions, with repeat visits for same problem usually the same day. my car has given off numerous codes which include but are not limited to the following: b0026, b0040, b0041, b0043, b2470, b0229, b3770. i have taken my car to 3 separate dealerships where they have replaced harnesses, wires, connectors etc. none of this seems to have worked. i have for the last 6 months also have had ny horn blowing intermittently. i have called onstar to perform diagnostics on my vehicle and they have told me that the car has numerous codes coming up, and that i should not drive my vehicle until corrected, because the air bag may deploy on its own or it may not deploy if my car is wrecked. this is a very dangerous situation and i do not feel safe in my car, but i do not have any other choice but to drive it because i do not have an extra $40,000 to buy a new one. i have explained all of this to gmc's arbitration department, but they have sent me several letters stating that they are not willing to buy my car back. my family's lives are not replaceable, and i worry every time i get in the vehicle that something will happen, and this is horrible feeling for a mother, whose job is to protect her children. i would also like to say that i feel very sorry for the individual dealerships, because they have all gone out of their way to try and fix these problems, but all have been unsuccessful. it is not the dealerships fault, it is the manufacturer of the vehicle. i truly believe as my kids have said that this vehicle is truly possessed, and in my opinion not fixable. *nm
