SEATS
04/25/2005109/27/2004
My wife ( is disabled and our rv is the only mode of transportation ) and we had taken our last trip to vermont in our 2004 gulf stream conquest, and we were on i-91 and there is several miles of the road which has been beaten badly and the rv was bouncing and vibrating the whole vehicle to the point my wife had to hold onto the dinette table she was sitting at( drivers side facing forward with seatbelts on). the suspention/ shocks on this rv didn't do anything to take out the bumps and shimmy's and the seat my wife was sitting in just compressed even more and bottomed out and hurt her neck from the jarring and bouncing that there are other sections of the road which are also rough and the vehicle bounces and wants to change lanes on me. i'm having some bilstein shocks installed and we contacted the gulf stream to complain about the seating and tell them about the ride we asked them to replace those with something more supportive but they said they didn't make any thing with actual coil springs or a stiffer foam padding. they contacted a new local distributor of theirs who would look at the seats. we asked if the existing barrel chair could be replaced with neck supprt but that they didn't have anything and if we changed anything we could void the warrenty on the coach. i brought the rv to this dealer who was the service manager and he sat in the seat which bottomed out(he said he was around 300 #'s) and said all these seats are uncomfortable and that you can't sit in these seats for long with out the foam collapsing. he asked me about my wife's weight and then made a comment about the fact that goverment standards for seating is only 150 lbs. he went on to say that he didn't believe there was any type of separation or actual defect in the seat cushion. the changing of the shocks sounded goodand maybe going to a van converstion shop or calling a mobility company would be our best bet but this was all an upgrade and not gulf stream's responsibility.

When you drive this motorhome and attempt to negotiate a curve, it is really hard to keep the motorhome in it's own lane. i drive between 55-58 mph.and slow down when i feel the road conditions warrant, the motorhome feels as if it wants to roll over, i have spoke with others who share the same concerns. if you get. e onto a entrance ramp that is a loop, and the suggested safe speed is 30 mph don't do it, maybe 15-20- mph, i have driven many vehicles in my lifetime and this motorhome scares me. it is equipped with 19.5 inch tires, and there is to much height and top weight for the tires and suspension to support on a stable base. i have yet to crash but i know it's only a matter of time before i crash and burn. i am a retired police officer and i would be more than glad to take one of your staff for a ride, and let them drive so they can experiance the amusement park handling of this motorhome. # of failures will indicate times of unsafe handling.the unit is a gulfstream endura 6340 eh 2 slides. *ak
