EQUIPMENT - MOTORCYCLE - HELMETS | |||

Mandatory equipment complaint: motor cycle helmet law(s). i have ridden motorcycles for 42 years and hundreds of thousands of miles without accident. i wear a helmet as required but it restricts my vision and my ability to turn my head from side to side. there are many times when i ride at speeds below 20 mph on community streets. on such streets, i need visibility and unrestricted head movement to avoid potholes, other vehicles, and pedestrians and animals. moped drivers and bicycle riders on the same streets and traveling the same speed do not have mandatory helmet laws. i demand the right to choose to wear my helmet when on secondary roads and streets. i am able to make a decision for my self that provides me and others with the greatest safety advantage. for example, i always wear my helmet in delaware where helmets are optional when i am traveling on roads where the speed limit is above 40 mph. *tr |
