Defect Summary | Certain motorcycles may have been produced with defective fuel shut-off valves. the functionality of the 'on' position and the 'reserve' position of the valve may have been reversed. | |||||||||||||||
Consequence Summary | If the bike were operating with the valve in the 'on' position, the bike could run out of fuel, the expected fuel reserve will not be available. this could lead to the driver running out of gas without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. | |||||||||||||||

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 harley davidson buell blast motorcycle (na). while driving over 55 mph, the main fused continued to blow and the vehicle stalled several times. the dealer could not duplicate the failures. the dealer stated that the contact could only trade in the vehicle for blue book value. the vin was unknown. the current and failure mileages were less than 1,500. |
